    Jumbo Green Terror

    News & New Items
    Hey Folks,

Merry Christmas! Another year gone by where I'm missing out on The Vandals Christmas Formal. Maybe I'll make to LA next year. I guess being stuck in Florida is still better than Christmas almost anywhere else, at least if you're as cold-averse as I am. Hope everyone has a great holiday, and has the opportunity to spend time with friends and family.

With the holiday falling on a Monday there's not major disruptions for incoming or outgoing orders. Incoming this week was pretty normal, and sales were a little less than anticipated, so there should be plenty of fish good to go Tuesday. I got in shipments from Sri Lanka, Singapore, Bangkok, and Indo this week, and we'll be back on track with Colombia next week.

I know a ton of you say it's busy after the first of the year. I'd correct that to say it's busy as soon as Christmas is over. Lots of your customers with no work next week and no kids in school, so they should be out buying fish. You need to have product next week, not coming in after the first of the year. On that note, I have to have your order's in here on Tuesday when we get in the office if you want them to go out Tuesday. I say when we get in the office but what I mean is me; Nick will be out of the office, and Steven will be working remotely. So don't wait till the last minute.

List is updated as much as possible, but it was a four-day week, where I missed a day traveling for work, Steven was out sick, and Nick left for vacation. Plus a lot of our incoming came in today. So we did the best we could but it might be a little less accurate this week. If you see pics of stuff that's not on the list just send an email or write it on you order.

For new fish, I have some jumbo green terrors. These are huge and super impressive. The conformation isn't perfect, but they are still beautiful fish.

Not quite new, but I have some gulper cats that came in a few weeks back. These definitely fit a Christmas theme because I hope you stuff yourself like a gulper cat with delicious Christmas dinner. I'll be smoking kielbasa and making pierogi to go along with ham and mashed potatoes and deviled eggs.

Please give a call if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

You might be able to sell a Christmas cobra mix for another week.

    Tetras & Other Characins
Black phantom tetras are back in stock from Singapore this week. They're not huge but they are very pretty. Also have some rosy tetras that got bigger and look really good. Some other far-east farm fish that look good include cardinal tetras, blue kerris, penguins, balloon red-eyes, black emperors, blind cave tetras, and hujeta rocket gar.

Florida-bred highfin black skirts are huge. Big with super long fins, these are a great value. Some other Florida fish that stand out include good size red-eye tetras, longfin blushers, bloodfins, candy cane tetras, Colombians, gold pristellas, x-rays, and pastel gold neon tetras.

No new South American fish this week but I still have plenty in house. Still have quite a few good sized red hooks, as well as a few emperor blue hooks. Silver hatchets are decent size and holding up pretty well. Red phantoms are small but a little more red every week. Bleeding hearts are decent size and look good. Still have limited numbers of Exodons, best display fish ever.

    Barbs & Other Cyprinids
Rosy barbs are still the nicest barb here. They're coming in big and have plenty of males with great color. Red glass barbs are big too and very bright. Gold barbs are decent size. Black ruby barbs are still kind of small but have a little color. Medium and large tiger barbs should be the only tiger barbs you buy next week, regular size is terrible. Giant danios, gold zebra danios, and brilliant rasboras all look good too.

If you missed the Monday email make sure you check out the pic below of the 'chili' rasboras. They're urophthalmoides again, not brigittae. Not as bright, but on the plus side they are a bit sturdier.

Various other import cyprinids that look good include gold neon rosy barbs, nice size roseline sharks, platinum green tiger barbs and new purple rasbora hets that aren't terrible size.

Worst ones I've ever seen here. Get the mediums instead.

    Livebearers
The assorted import swords are still the nicest swordtail here. Still have some pretty nice Florida marigold wags, and small but very pretty import calico sanke swords.

Red tiger platies are interesting. Some are mostly white, some are mostly red, some have clear stripes, some are mickey mouse types, and some are comet types. Other platies that look good include the XL mix, dawn platies, sunset mickeys, blue mickeys, pineapple highfin mickeys, and neon coral highfins.

A few guppies that stand out this week include platinums, tequilas, turquoise blue tails, and assorted dumbos.

Chocolate sailfin mollies are one of the prettier varieties but they are a little smaller than the greens or golds. The large assorted sailfins are a nice mix with some sailfin lyretails. Gold lyretail sphenops loook good, gold pandas are pretty nice, but skip the blacks and black lyretail mollies (they're both real small this week).

    New World Cichlids
I have some cheap common cichlids in stock this week. Texas cichlids are in stock at a pretty decent size. They're almost certainly not pure Texas cichlids, but that just means they have a little better color than you'd expect at this size. PInk convicts came in great size, young adult fish that will be laying eggs in your tanks. Black convicts are about the same size. If I have any firemouths left it's just the regular size but I'll try for more mediums and/or larges next week.

In addition to the jumbo green terrors, I still have a few jumbo balzani left, a couple XL istlanum with amazing color, plenty of XL trimacs, and a few XL salvinis.

Some nice medium fish in stock right now too. I have medium/3" chocolate cichlids, brasiliensis pearly eartheaters, steindachneri red humps, oversized medium salvinis, spectabilis, and Rio San Juan nics. 4" Cuban cichlids are really pretty but their fins are a little wonky.

A few other Florida fish that look good include snook cichlids, red-head Tapajos, grammodes, and myersi.

Select gold angels stood out in today's walk-through. They're pretty good size with nice color. Large black angels are super impressive in size. They're not quite solid black but close. Medium koi are very bright and a little oversized.

Import lemon oscars look different this week. Lots of black in the fins. I've seen this before, but never to this extent. It gives them a neat look.

Plenty of parrots in stock in all sizes. The blood parrots are very nice. Blue tiger parrots are big and impressive. Platinum parrots are quite a bit smaller than the other two but they look good too.

    Old World Cichlids
In stock with some yellow-blaze lithobates. They're all males, and they're adult, but they are not exactly showing great color. These fish are one of the less aggressive Haps, and you typically won't see more than one colored fish in a tank, and no colored fish in a tank if you keep them with more aggressive species. They mix well with peacocks or other laid-back Haps. If these guys are the most dominant fish in the tank they'll be bright blue with a nice yellow blaze down the back. FYI, the 'OB lithobates' that I have are more like a hybrid that resembles a lithobates in shape, but isn't as much of a wuss. In other words, they'll keep their color better than the pure lithobates.

Red-sided peacocks get brighter every week. Super bright blue faces with lots of red/orange on the side. Albino sunshine peacocks are the best value peacock here. A few other peacocks and haps that stand out include blue dolphin moori, nyererei, large mix Has, and redfin borelyi.

Best mbunas this week are the fancy mix mediums. Oversized and nice colors/types that you won't find in the standard mix. Other than the mix your best options this week are auratus, exasperatus, demasoni, acei, cobalt zebras, OB zebras and red zebras.

Karambe moori have been here for a long time and they get a little more red every week. Way bigger than any import Tropheus which is why they're listed as mediums.

    Catfish and Loaches
Even though I didn't get a Colombia shipment this week I still have plenty of nice catfish and plecos for next week. The galaxy/vampire/toothnose are some of the nicest plecos here. Very nice size and their fins are cleaning up pretty well. They're not separated, just packed tight enough that they don't seem to be picking on each other very much. Blue phantoms get a little more blue every week. Green phantoms are already super bright, you won't have to wait for them to color up. Still have quite a few Colombian zebras and a few snowballs in stock too.

Best cories this week are arcuatus skunk cories and metae bandit cories. Both of these are pretty good size. Punctatus are the best of the spotted cories, also nice size. Should have plenty of pygmaeus cories in stock this week and they've been holding up well.

A few other import catfish that look good include royal farlowellas, farlowellas, spotted and striped raphael cats, four-line pims, and banjo cats. Got plenty of BB cats but the size is mostly pretty bad right now. Far-east Burmese sun cats are a bit small but they look good.

Got a few new Florida fish this week. Lemon blue-eye bushynose plecos are back in stock. They aren't big but they're a lot bigger than the standard and albino bushynose. Nice yellow fish with blue eyes. I also have some large albino bushynose. They are not all males, and some of them are barely half the size of the guy in the pic below, but that still makes them large. Florida Syno petricola are super nice and a great value. 3" assorted spotted Synose are an even better value. UD cats, decorus, angelicus/eupterus crosses and big eupterus all look good too.

Gold dojo loaches are back in stock. Still have some brown dojos that are a fair bit bigger than the golds too. Redtail botias and tiger botias are both still in stock and look good. Just got in Borneo sucker hillstream loaches today.

    Other Fish
6-7" silver arowanas are still here. Order them early next week, this is a January fish and I don't have many left.

Red paradise that came in last week look great. Solid red fish with black fin edges. The Florida-bred albino paradise are very pretty, nice strain that gets plenty of red. Florida blue and opaline (limited) gouramis are nice. Pearl gouramis are still pretty bad. Import neon dwarf males are very pretty, between a standard male and powder blue in appearance.

I'm back in stock with neon dwarf rainbows. They're not that big, but they already have great color. Also back in stock with red rainbows but they're heavy female and don't look that good. Turquoise rainbows are small but have good color. Yellow rainbows and Deepwater Creek splendida are exceptional.

For smaller rainbows, the signifers are bright yellow and as nice as I've seen them. Paskai are the one import rainbow I have in stock. They're small but get more colorful every day. Featherfins are great size and super impressive.

Some other odds and ends that look good include brown ghost knives, figure-8 puffers, spotted puffers, dwarf puffers, fire eels, zig-zag eels, panda garras, doctor fish, medium Siamese algae eaters, peacock gudgeon gobies, albino bichirs, delhezi bichirs, black ranchus, and 4" sarasa comets.

    Shrimp, Snails & Other Inverts
Check back on Tuesday to see if I have more snails. As of today your Florida snail options are albino snails. Import black racer nerites are the hardest working snail. Got plenty of assassin snails, and limited numers of orange rabbit snails.

Red cherry shrimp and black rili shrimp are the best options. Also restocked on a ton of shrimp today that just came out of bags. For next week I should have red rilis, red crystals, blue shrimp, orange cherry shrimp, and new hinomaru shrimp.

    Saltwater Corals
The Saltwater stock-list gets sent out on MONDAY afternoon.

In saltwater, we offer tons of top-of-the-line corals.  If you need really nice frags to sell for $10-15, we've got you covered.  If you want a $400 show piece unique Australian brain corals, we've got that too.  Tons of the coral frags are aquacultured in-house and are named lineage pieces of various SPS and LPS.  Import frags that are MADE in-house are also available, and are great options to get slightly bigger pieces that customers want like torches, hammers, blastos, acans, zoas, etc.
