Hey Folks,
I've never been happier to see crappy weather! Checking the weather in the midwest next week and I'm thrilled to see that all you up north customers are going to be cold and miserable. I know 30s and 40s isn't really cold to you people that live up there, but it's getting real close to weather where fish sales pick up again. In case you're wondering, we'll be in the low 80s next week. But we do have to deal with half a year of stupid hot summers and occasional hurricanes to enjoy our winter weather.
If you're one of the people skimming the email and never opening the list than you really need to check it out again for the specials. Obviously during COVID we all sold every fish we could get and nothing ever went on sale. We're clearly back to seasonal sales patterns, and I've been running a lot of nice specials to try to boost sales. A year ago everything on sale was stuff that was sitting here, but now I've been running a lot of cheap Florida stuff. I have jumbo neons, large tiger barbs, and a couple sizes of mixed angelfish this week. There's a lot of stuff on there that you can use.
Check out the GloFish shark pics below. I've mentioned the greens when they're around since it's not all the time (they're available this week again), but I also wanted to pass along that they look amazing right now. The oranges are huge, and the blues and purples aren't too far behind. If you haven't stocked them because they were coming in so small you need to get them again. They are big and impressive and should be in your tanks.
Decent week for incoming, especially considering that I had a big order postponed. I have a little variety from Colombia, some new Indo fish, and a few new Florida items.
You have another week to get gold nugget plecos. I'm about out of Rio Iriri large-spots, getting low on the L81 small spots, and the standard L18s are going fast. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to fill everything this week, but not sure I'll be carrying much over to the following week.
Florida-bred gold nigrita Synodontis cats are in stock. These are similar to upside down cats and are sometimes traded as false UD cats. They do get bigger, which is great for this gold mutation. Max size is around 7" for this species, and when they're big and yellow they are super impressive. This batch isn't small, roughly 2" and they're already yellow. They come with varying degrees of dark color in the fins, but rather than detracting from the fish it's a neat contrast. Like most of the Synos these are tough fish that can hold their own with cichlids, but don't go out of their way to mess with tankmates that they can't eat. Native range on this fish is a big part of Africa so they're tolerant of a wide range of water parameters. They are only sporadically available and always go fast when I can get them.
Tank-raised hujeta rocket gar are in from Indo. This is basically a toothy tetra. They're called gar because they're shaped like native gar, not because they're related. These tank-raised fish come in a lot smaller than the wild gar/barracuda type characins, but they're also a lot more stable. They're used to living in tanks so they don't freak out and crash into the side of the tanks. And they'll take prepared foods without issue. They are tiny right now but these fish get about 10", so a little smaller than the wild Boulengerella gar. FYI, don't order these if you're in Texas or Nevada, they are illegal there for no good reason.
Getting closer to the deadline for you to comment on Banggai cardinals. There's info on the NAIA website and you can go here to comment. I've mentioned this three weeks in a row now. The quick summary is that there's a push to list them as endangered and prohibit importation, in spite of the fact that the imports are nearly all aquacultured fish, and the few wild-caught Banggais that come in are collected outside of their native range where they have been introduced.
On the good legislative side of things, you can go to the USARK-FL instagram page for a video of our new FWC executive director sitting down with USARK-FL media director Daniel Parker. I'm super impressed with Daniel for making this happen, and super impressed (and surprised) that executive director Roger Young was willing to do this. It's nice to think that we may be able to get back to a good working relationship with our state regulators.
Thanks,

Trying something a little different to see if it catches on. We have a local supplier of very nice, healthy, pure "Guppy Grass" (no other plants mixed in, free of algae, clean). Sold in very very large portion bags for $15 each. You can easily break this into 8-10 fist-sized portions to sell. Let your rep know if you're interested, they're not on the stocklist. I know this stuff is hard to find and everyone that wants to breed fish needs this stuff. |

Orange GloFish sharks are great size. If you haven't gotten them in recent months you need to get them in your tanks again. |
|
|
Purple GloFish shark. The greens are a bit smaller than this. Blues are a fair bit smaller but they're also the best looking shark. |
|
|
Jumbo Neons I have neons, tiger barbs, and angelfish on special this week along with a ton of other stuff. If you haven't opened the list for a while check out the specials page with about 30 items. |

I have Florida-bred candy cane tetras in stock this week! My picture is pretty mediocre and that's not completely an accident. These fish are fantastic and they're almost certainly going to sell out on Monday or Tuesday. They'll sell out even faster if I get a better picture. Bleeding heart like, but with red and white bands in their fins.
Some other Florida tetras that stand out include glowlights, longfin white skirts, longfin serpaes, longfin blushers, and gold neon tetras that will sell better if you call them pastel neons.
A few far-east farm tetras that look good include huge glass bloodfins, rummynose, mixed size but pretty black phantoms, big blue kerris, albino Congos, and all-male Congo tetras. I'm in stock with new ember tetras that are pretty but are small. Green fires are small right now as well.
Diptail pencils are in stock from Colombia. A cheap and interesting oddball, although not exactly colorful. They get their name because they swim with their heads pointed up. They are very peaceful. In fact, they're likely to get outcompeted or just stressed out by bigger active tetras so only keep them with other peaceful species. I probably have limited numbers of ruby tetras and red phantoms left as well. Silver hatchets actually look good today, hopefully that's still the case on Monday.
For bigger fish, I've got some 3" flagtail Prochilodus. Also have a handful of pacus left, both standard types and albinos. |
|
|
Candy Cane Tetras Also traded as HY511 tetras which is pretty dumb. Call them candy canes and you'll sell out in a hurry. |

Still have lots of oversized and exceptional Florida fish. Tons of large tiger barbs in stock and they're on sale this week. Veil-tail cherry barbs are about as nice as I've seen. Lots of males, and crazy long tails. Albino cherry barbs are big and bright, and you might get some bonus veils. The albino veil-tail cherries are still big too. Rosy barbs got a lot brighter this week. They're great size with a pretty good male/female ratio. Giant danios, longfin zebra danios, and pearl danios continue to come in big. Rainbow dace are also a little drab, but a few fish in the tank are showing good color.
Import red panda barbs are just on the brink of coloring up. They're big enough, and if you know the fish you know they're going to be crazy bright real soon. Platinum green tiger barbs are beautiful. Gold white clouds are limited but what I have look good, nice red tails.
Ran through a lot of nano fish lately but I still have nice Asian rummynose and erythromicron emerald dwarf rasboras. Both of these are full adults and the only reason they're not vibrant is that my tanks are just glass and a standpipe. Get them in your tanks with gravel and plants and lights and they're going to look amazing. |

Got some fantastic swordtails in this week, both Florida fish and imports. I'm back in stock with the XL assorted Florida swords. The average size might be a little smaller than previous sets but they're still way way bigger than anything else here. I also got a surprise this week with Florida marigolds and marigold wags. The marigolds are brighter.
Import assorted lyretail swords are the nicest ones I've seen here. They're way bigger than what I usually get, with very impressive tails. Even better, they're all velvet and velvet wag types, not the dull colors that often come in this mix. On top of that they're the same price. Get them now in case that's a mistake. I also have new vampire swords, and new firecracker swords. The vampire swords are a deeper red than the assorted lyretails. For standard finned swords, the import pineapples are nice, and the pink comets are very nice.
Sunset tux platies that came in last week are supposed to make the list this week. Pretty good size, very bright, and a little different that what I usually have. Some other platies that look good include candy canes, bumblebees, dawns, gold twin-bars, and blue mickeys.
Red dragon dumbo guppies look different and very nice this week. They fin color is solid instead of patterned like they usually come in. Red cobras, pigeonbloods, platinums, blue cobras, pink tux, red rose, and black Endlers all look good too.
Got in some wild Florida sailfin mollies. These wild types are similar to farm-raised greens but with insane blue when they're fired up and showing off. This batch is female heavy, and you're going to be waiting a while to see them color up. Gold dust mollies are very bright, although they're pretty small right now. |

Big chocolate cichlids are in stock for the first time in a long while. They're not just brown, they're every shade of brown. They're prettier than that sounds, with a lot of subtle green/red/purpleish hues in the brown. List 5", they are really nice at this size. They can be pretty aggressive with conspecifics, but aren't typically too bad with unrelated species.
Jack dempseys are coming in great size. I think I have a regular and a medium on the list but they're all supposed to be the regular size, just running big. They already have lots of nice blue. Not a lot of other common cichlids around. Red devils are good size and bright, and the 3" and 4" are on special. I have a few green terrors, and OK black and pink convicts.
Florida-bred electric blue acaras are back in stock, although likely to run out early in the week. The size is OK, the color is very good. Also have very pretty red-spot gold severums in a select size, and some regulars that are not as bright.
Got a few new eartheaters this week. I'm back in stock with regular and medium balzanis. Get the mediums, they already have a ton of yellow. Medium brasiliensis look pretty good too with nice blue spots.
Medium German blue rams are outstanding. The regular size is really nice, but the mediums are way bigger and brighter.
I also have wild blue rams from Colombia. These are very different than the tank raised fish. They aren't quite as blue, but they're still really colorful, with plenty of yellow/orange in the chest and fins. They're also jerks. Apparently 40+ years of selectively breeding blue rams has selected for a much more peaceful fish.`
Wild oscars are back in stock too, also from Colombia. They have a really neat pattern, a bit busier than the common tank-raised fish.
I still have all my Brazilian pikes. Orange pikes are very pretty and will get better every week. Compressiceps are doing well, and all my Teleocichlas are looking good too. These are very limited, get them while you can. Still have some big Atabapo red pikes too. The bigger ones are gorgeous.
Singapore discus are doing great. The 2" assortment is over sized and a great mix, and the 2" pigeons are very nice too (skip the cobalts, they're very brown).
I have all the parrots this week. Got in a bunch of red parrots, including some with nice black splotches. Also have a couple sizes of blue tiger parrots (get the bigger size), and a few small platinum parrots. And if you prefer your parrots to be real fish, I have a few wild true parrots (Hoplarchus). If you think a blood parrot is what a parrot is supposed to be than you need to look up this fish. |

Not a lot new here but a lot of nice fish. For haps, the big assorted hap males on special this week and they look great. OB red empress are good size and crazy bright, they fade less than any other OB fish. Large fuscos are super nice, and the large OB sunstratus are one of the nicest fish on the farm. Piceatus may be my favorite fish on the farm, and the dominant male in the tank is black with red fins. The pic is fuzzy because he fades as soon as a net goes in the tank.
Yellow labs are getting bigger and they're on sale again this week. These should be on every order. EB johanni, redhead macs, red zebras, kennyi, albino zebras and cobalt zebras are all nice as well. The large mix mbuna is pretty nice right now, heavy on acei. The medium fancy mix is excellent, lots of different and unusual types in the mix.
Back in stock with jewel cichlids. Florida collected and not very red right now, but they will be. They sulk for a while when they're put into tanks but they'll be fired up soon. |

Same medium jewels - this is what one of the dominant males looked like 10 seconds after capture. They should color back up in your tanks. They like really hot water to look their best. |

While I'm nearly out of gold nugget types I still have lots of other Brazilian plecos that came in last week. Still have plenty of sultans, mangos, medusas, and a few red titanics and candy canes. Pretty sure I have two or three big goldies left as well.
For new plecos, I have the smallest green phantoms I've ever seen. I think I've had otos bigger than this. They're adorable. Also have more XL green phantoms (smaller than last week's but still nice), wild bushynose, small royals, and Colombian snowballs.
Royal farlowellas came in very mixed in size but they're all doing well. The regular farlowellas got a lot bigger this week, and I still have baby farlowellas too if you want smaller fish.
New metae bandit plecos are very nice size. Rabauti have been here a couple weeks and are stable. Arcuatus are very small. Pygmaeus are smaller but they're supposed to be small. Brochis cats are still huge.
Some other import catfish that look good include jelly cats, gulper cats, pictus cats, spotted raphaels, zamora cats, and Burmese sun cats in a couple sizes.
For tank-raised fish, I have more 2" eupterus/angelicus crosses that look fantastic, plus oversized eupterus, true multis, and less expensive multi crosses that look very similar. Indo albino paleatus are very pretty and a good value.
Loach selection is unchanged. I have Borneo sucker hillstream loaches, Sewellia, yo-yo loaches (on special), and striped loaches. |

Silver arowanas came in a little bigger this week. They're list 6-7", and they are noticeably bigger than the mediums.
Celebes rainbows stood out as big and bright this week. One of the hardest rainbows to get a decent picture of, you can kinda tell from the pic below. For bigger rainbows, the boesmanis are still pretty good, and the medium yellows are fantastic. Deepwater Creek splendida are pretty nice too.
Had a huge price drop on the giant gouramis, both wild-type and regulars. Not sure it's reflected on the full list yet but the price on the specials page is a huge discount. It's still an ugly fish but at least it's not overpriced now.
Got in more albino paradise. They're mixed in size, most of them about half the size of the one in the pic below. Gold, blue and opalines keep getting smaller but they're still bigger than imports and have decent color. Opalines are on sale again and had a bit of price drop. Import red honey and gold honey gouramis both look great. Still have a bunch of sparkling gouramis, a great nano tank fish.
New brown ghost knives and transparent knives both came in smaller than usual this week.
Some other odds and ends that look good include ossa knives, zigzag eels, black ryukins, 6" orandas, gold killis, giant royal clown knives, figure-8 puffers, ghost sharks, and Siamese algae eaters. |

Red spotted nerites are back in stock. They really should be called black-spotted red nerites. They're the prettiest nerite here, and the one most likely to get filled. Also have assassin snails, a few rabbit snails, and limited numbers of horned nerites.
Domestic black mystery snails are good size. Albinos are a bit mixed, and there's more than a few that have been growing algae on their shells for a while.
Florida mix shrimp look great. It's only three colors, but all the shrimp have color. Way better than Florida shrimp used to be.
Restocked on Indo shrimp. The red crystals are still the best. Black rilis and bloody mary shrimp look good too. |

The Saltwater stock-list gets sent out on MONDAY afternoon.
In saltwater, we offer tons of top-of-the-line corals. If you need really nice frags to sell for $10-15, we've got you covered. If you want a $400 show piece unique Australian brain corals, we've got that too. Tons of the coral frags are aquacultured in-house and are named lineage pieces of various SPS and LPS. Import frags that are MADE in-house are also available, and are great options to get slightly bigger pieces that customers want like torches, hammers, blastos, acans, zoas, etc. |
