Hey everyone,
Sorry this is going out so late, we've been slammed busy since we got here this morning! It looks like everyone had been waiting on the gold nugget type plecos as expected because they're already flying out of here. It's a great fish because they advertise themselves, people see them and just want them.
Brazil landed late Friday night after our last email went out so we didn't have pictures of the current stock but now we do! Everything arrived great and looking healthy with not-sunken-in bellies. If you want to buy this stuff until the last stragglers go on sale in 3 weeks though, that might not be the case anymore, so it's in your best interest to get them ASAP if you're wanting the fancy plecos. And keep in mind these are not just algae eaters, they need some meat in their diets too so things like bloodworms or other frozen/thawed cubes work well for them.
We also have a TON of exciting stuff coming in later tonight and wednesday for this upcoming Friday's list, so keep an eye out for that too. Lots of new discus, bettas, guppies, and more. This is going to be an exciting week for fish lovers.
Also, Joe was really good about keeping everyone in the loop about industry-killing legislation, so here's a heads up for everyone from the USARK webpage:
On September 12, Representative Betty McCollum introduced HR9571, which will "amend the Animal Welfare Act to include cold-blooded species as animals, and for other purposes." This will add reptiles, amphibians, fish, and cephalopods "as animals" under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA), meaning the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) must develop rules to regulate these animals. Basically, the USDA would now be required to license and inspect facilities and breeders with these animals. Businesses would need to comply with new USDA regulations or lose their licenses. The USDA recently began inspecting and licensing aviculturists (bird breeders). The bill has been assigned to the House Agriculture Committee.
I don't think I need to tell you all how this absolutely would destroy the fish and reptile industries. Support USARK in their fight to keep regulations like this at bay for as long as possible, or we are all out of a job in the near future. These politicians do not care about the reality of what this would do to our industry, and they just want to be able to say "I passed a bill to prevent animal suffering".
Give your rep a call if you need anything!
