    Bumble Bee Gobies!
Finally back in stock. They'll sell out in a hurry even with my crappy picture.
    Hey Folks,

I'm back in the office today. Exhausted after a week of SuperZoo and a weekend of Daytona Reptile Breeders Expo, but I'm here. For today at least, and then out of the office at Fish and Wildlife meetings Tuesday and Wednesday.

SuperZoo traffic might have been down a bit this year, but it was still a good show. Lots of meetings that kept me out of the booth, but I appreciate everybody that stopped by. I also need to thank Sadie at Pisces USA for providing a bunch of rockwork, Spectrum for blue lights that make the GloFish look awesome, the Sera crew for some pellets that were so palatable that my stingrays ate at the show, Aquatop for the best clarifier that exists, Les at Cobalt for doing more water changes on my tanks than I did, and special thanks to Eric at WPA for keeping an eye on everything throughout the week.

I especially appreciate everyone that showed up at the roundtable discussion about pet law issues. One of my contributions was to normalize telling your customers about the legal challenges facing our industry. I keep hearing that a lot of you count on getting your news from my email. Probably because you accidentally see news when you originally intended to scroll through the pics in my email. I suspect part of this is that not everyone opens every USARK/PAN/NAIA email, but a lot of you open this one every week for fish news and pics and then get ambushed with my legal updates. Glad I can contribute in some way. Long rambling way of me saying it's not going away and I hope you start seeing this kind of info from your other vendors. And I really hope you start passing this stuff along to your customers.

On that note, thanks to Phil Goss for volunteering me, and thanks to Mike Bober for moderating. Thanks to Kim Stout from Coastal Pet and Elizabeth Kunzelman from Petland for participating. And a very sincere thanks to Patti Strand for years of advocating for the pet trade. I finally had a chance to introduce myself to Patti at SuperZoo. I'll try to do better including NAIA when I send out news.

One final thanks to the Double Down for providing a place for me to get away from SuperZoo for a few hours. The happiest place on earth.

I do have fish news too. Lots of nice stuff that came in last week, plenty of new fish over the weekend, and I have some new local fish coming in tomorrow.

Bumble bee gobies are in stock for the first time in many months. They are always insanely popular even though they're problematic. They prefer brackish water and they prefer live foods, although I suspect they'll take Sera pellets like every other picky fish in the world. Best suited for a species tank or with other peaceful, small, and salt-tolerant species.

I have a new 'mountain loach' in from Sri Lanka. Not sure if I've had this one before, if I did I guess it didn't stick in my memory. It's a pretty neat fish, similar to a sumo loach. A sumo loach with no color other than the yellow tail. They have the same build and a very nice banded pattern but they are all shades of brown. I think this is Schistura notostigma but loach nerds feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Some other new items over the last few days include knight gobies, big and beautiful domestic albino veil-tail cherry barbs, import green tiger barbs, large panda cories, medium paleatus cories, green scats, orange von rios, flagfish (tiny), bloodfin tetras, bumblebee platies, msobo cichlids, acei, blue kerris, giant ossa knives, and big leleupi. Best guppies are tricolor dumbos, red dumbos, laser beams, and midnights. I'm still expecting balloon red-eyes, altifrons, 5" brasiliensis, redhead Tapajos, green terrors, Tamasopoensis cichlids, and tiger shrimp.

Various other fish that stood out in today's walkthrough include longfin zebra danios, gold gouramis, true giant gouramis, super nice longfin serpaes, medium German blue rams, select red-spot gold severums, 4" heckeli, Cop azureus medium males, nice size leleupi, gold white clouds, albino bichirs, albino pacus, green panchax, black phantom tetras, kuhli loaches, rhino gobies, 4" redtail cats, clown knives, sailfin tetras, giant otos, ruby tetras, elegans cories, Colombian zebra plecos, and large banjo cats.

It's still buy three get one free on GloFish sharks right now. Not only is a great promo, they're good size. And I have green GloFish sharks available this week. The green sharks are going to be off and on, maybe for the next year. Stock up when you can get them, they look great.

Please give a call if you have any questions.

One of the best parts of SuperZoo was hanging out with Gary Bagnall. Gary stepped down as chairman of USARK last week, in part to focus on his new project the Museum of Aquarium and Pet History. New compared to ZooMed at least, it's about a year old. Go to the website here for some fun history lessons.

(And USARK will continue to be in great hands with Todd Goodman of Timberline taking over that position. Todd was a big part of the reason that our auction in Daytona raised over $119,000)
Lots of other neat stuff at SuperZoo like these baby ostriches.

    Reptile & Amphibian Highlights
I have two sizes of baby chameleons this week. The small ones are 1-2" body size. These are pretty touchy at this size, make sure you have lots of food for them. The 2-3" are a bit sturdier, although they still need a lot of attention at this size. Best suited for advanced hobbyists, or even better for you to grow them up a bit before putting them in homes.

Mountain horned lizards are in stock this week. Imports on this species seem to be a little more sporadic. This is another one that will someday be on the list of stuff you'll wish you had kept when they're no longer available.

Chubby frogs are in this week too. This is a serious under-rated species. They will dig, but they quickly acclimate and will come out to feed right out of your fingers in no time.
