Hey Everyone,
Today is the most excited I've been in literally years about incoming fish. We finally ordered some wild true Altums and they arrived in absolutely perfect shape! Numbers are of course limited (we ordered only one bag, since we didn't know how they would hold up....true Altums are historically one of the touchiest fish you can possibly import). If they sell as well as I think they will, maybe we can convince the people with the power to do it to bring them in again in a couple weeks, so show your support for the love of desirable fish like this by actually ordering some please!
From the same South American shipment we got plenty of other first-time exciting stuff also! CW27 Cory Cats are here and way nicer than I expected. I'm not a "cory cat guy" by any stretch of the imagination, and after seeing them in person it makes me want to try them out. They've got nice tall dorsal fins and a greenish sheen to the body, and they're very nice size. Also in for the first time ever, one-line pim cats! We actually ordered Imitation Cory Cats, and the supplier shipped us these instead, but I'm not mad about it. They look pretty cool too (pictures down in the catfish section) and they should be very reasonably priced. This is the perfect time of year to be bringing in stuff that's inexpensive that your customers have never seen before, so try some out!
Big news on the GloFish® front: Our head breeder here working with the Angelfish line just let us know we have a surplus of breeder sized fish that we don't need to hang onto for future production, so we're offering those to you this week. I imagine they'll sell out pretty quick even at a higher price than the normal sized Starfire Red® GloFish® Angelfish. My suggestion to you would be to resist the urge to sell them at a normal margin, and I'd put 2 or 3 in a display tank in the store. Then for the next couple years when customers are asking about the angels you have for sale, you can show them what they look like as adults and I guarantee that will increase the number of fish you sell. Put a crazy price on the breeders, like 100 bucks each or something, seriously. You might have someone actually offer it so it's a win-win. You either make bank with a massive margin, or you get to display a fantastic fish for many months to come.
We also got our normal Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Singapore with plenty of cool stuff like more Fire Eels, lots of colorful shrimp, scats, discus, and much much more.
If you have any questions, give your sales rep a call

Breeder sized GloFish® Starfire Red® Angelfish. I'm not allowed to take pictures of them in my hand to show a size reference, but they're I'd say probably 6 inches TALL. About the same size as our mixed large angels we've always sold |

Exodon Paradoxus, also known as Bucktooth Tetras due to their piranha-like ferocity and ability to shred tankmates, are back in stock and are absolutely "adorable". Pic below. It's been it feels like a year since we had these in stock, so it's nice to get them again. They should grow quickly, they absolutely devour anything you put in to feed them.
Another new tetra for this week are Emperors and this batch is quite nice. They're much bigger than usual and, more importantly, they're holding up and seem healthy so far. Emperors have always been a fan favorite tetra because they get larger than a lot of other species and look awesome as a big school in a large tank.
Bread and butter that's looking best this week are largely the same that have been looking nice the past couple weeks, but just to reiterate: Orange Von Rios, Black Skirts, White Skirts, Serpae and LF Serpae, Xray, Blushing, and Ember tetras are above average. |
Exodon "Bucktooth tetras" are back for the first time in ages but size leaves something to be desired |
Med Silver Dollar are probably worth the extra price over the regulars. |
Ruby Tetra are the perfect nano fish, nice bright color |

Emperor Tetra - great size, starting to turn purple already |
Xray Tetra |

LF Serpae Tetra still have great size |

it's been several months since we had the Platinum Green Tiger Barb in stock, so they're a welcome new addition to the list. These come in at a larger size so they're worth the price and the color is MUCH brighter than the normal green tiger barb. Clown and 5 banded barbs are both still in stock from the far-east and I'm a big fan of these less-common barbs. Stores shouldn't only carry rosy, tiger, and cherry barbs, you need some "cool" stuff too to cater to your serious clientele.
Cherry barbs that showed up this week are very large and impressive. The veiltails are just as nice but we've put a picture of those in the last 2 emails so it's nice to be able to change it up a little today. LF Rosy barbs are also still coming in very nice and I'd highly recommend them too.
Denisonii both regular and the gold variety are exceptional right now (they're in the MISC section as "roseline shark)). The golds that we currently have are almost entirely the nice solid colored ones, no splotchy brownish fish, seem to be good quality. |

Cherry Barb Reg are HUGE this week! |

XL assorted swords are still coming in some days, they’re the absolute best value out of any swords we get in. We did lower the price on the standard mix sword since for some reason the XL were cheaper than the normal mix, so that makes a lot more sense now. Platies this week are all almost identical in sizing so there's not a clear standout as far as one that's running big. Honestly, I would order the assorted platy this week, there's a lot of really cool looking types in that mix that we don't have solid strains of available separately, so you'll get some cool new stuff if you get the mix.
The Dumbo guppy assortment is full of really nice brightly colored fish with big tails, I'd say they're definitely the best guppy at this moment. The Cobra varieties are all above average as well.
Mollies this week dont have anything new compared to last week, and I'd say the best looking fish are still going to be the Gold Dust, or the Gold Panda LT, both of which are attractive yellow and black fish.

I never would have guessed that on the week we got True Wild Altum Angels in I'd have several other cool things to talk about in the same category at the same week, but here we are! In addition to the Altums, we have 5 FANTASTIC big red spot gold severums, and they're not even much more pricey than the medium size. We got all we could, we really wish we could order 50 and get 50 but they just don't exist in that available quantity. These are Florida Bred, not hormoned up imports.
The other cool new thing before we talk Altums are the "Choco Aquidens", which we ordered on the wild Colombia shipment just to see what would show up. They look very similar to the standard wild type blue acara, which isn't a dig at them, that's a good looking fish. These should make for perfect fish for your bigtime fish nerds that come into your shop and want something fun and different to try to breed.
Alright, So now for the main topic, we have True Altums for the first time since I believe 2018. I regret it constantly that last time we got them in I didn't buy any to take home, thinking it would be a regular thing, but for years our suppliers didn't even have them available, and when they did they were only huge and those huge ones don't ship well at all. This batch is the perfect "select" size, body size larger than a quarter, and they'll adapt to tank life MUCH better. Keep in mind that true Altums have a reputation for being some of the most finicky fish you can keep in freshwater. They like their water HOT and acidic, 6.0-6.5. If you keep them at 78 degrees, save your money cause they'll definitely not make it long term. They also must have as close to pristine water quality as possible the thrive. Once they get sick, it's virtually impossible to get them to recover, so prevention and keeping them happy is the name of the game with these. The reward is worth the risk though, these are the absolute must-have fish out of everything that comes from South America. Altums get huge, I've heard of individuals 16 inches tall, which is absolutely insane, and they get colors that you don't see on any of the captive bred strains of angels. All in all, they're a true hobbyist fish-geek type of fish that anyone would love to have. Get them while you can, It might be another 6 years before we get them again. Quick note though, due to the "expert only" nature of these, we will NOT be writing credits for fish that died after you acclimated them. DOA in bag only on this fish. Sorry we have to do that, but they're just absolutely not a "throw them into whatever tank we've got that has other fish doing fine in it" sort of fish, and we can't be held responsible for what happens once you get them.
In other angel news, I've got a picture of the new "Phantom" angels down below, and those are an offshoot of our GloFish® production. They're just fish that were born without the Starfire Red ® color. Otherwise totally healthy fish. They're something a little different so we figured we would offer them for sale and see if people like them too. |

The largest size of Red Spotted Gold Severum are absolutely stunning. We have 5 to sell, and no you can't have all 5. Limit 1 per store. |
Medium size Red Spot Gold Severum we have plenty for everyone to get however many you want! They honestly look almost as good as the bigger guys. |
New! "Choco" Aquidens Acara look very similar to the wild blue acaras we got out of Trinidad last year |
"Phantom" angels are available and we're also going to start mixing these into our fancy mix at all sizes. These are from the GloFish® Angelfish production, the fish that didn't "take" the coloration still look really cool. |
Regular Flowerhorn are the only flowerhorn left, but they still look great for the size |
4 Inch Heckelli are back in stock and have great fin extensions at this size already |
Wild Red Striped Severum are about 3 inches. |
Mayan Cichlids really should have sold out a month ago, they're the best looking central/south American for the price |
We brought in a bunch of show-quality haps/peacocks/hybrids to show off at SuperZoo in Vegas next week, and unfortunately just found out that the tanks for the show are 1 foot cubes.....so our loss is your gain, as now we can sell the fish that won't fit in our show tanks anymore! These got added to the list at the last second, so we just put them on the specials page. There's 3 pictures below to show what sort of quality to expect. They're stunning fish.
We also brought in a big group of extremely nice OB Bubblegum Soco's for the show, and those are now for sale also. The breeder can't come up with these often, so now's your chance to get them. They're a really beautiful light blue mixed with pink highlights. One of the best looking mbuna available. |

New Catfish Alert! 2 new fish we've never had before landed this week! The most exciting of the two are the CW 27 Cory Catfish. These are really nice size with tall dorsal fins and great color. Best part is they're actually a reasonable price, even cheaper than the Black Venezuelan Cories! I'm fighting the urge to buy a group of them myself right now. I'll probably give in.
The other new catfish we got by mistake, but it turned out to be a happy mistake. We ordered some False Cories, and the supplier shipped us 1-line-pims in their place for the same price. I'm not sure if that means these are a crazy good deal or just average, because I've never seen them for sale before. That of course means you need to buy them. Anything you can bring in that your customers have never seen before that they can buy with a $10 bill and get change back is a clear winner. You absolutely will get impulse buys from people on stuff like this.
For plecos we did get some more Green Phantoms, Colombian Zebras, and Snowballs, and all are running average to big, nothing small in those. Large sized albino bushynose are back for the first time in months as well, and they're always a hot seller. The males are 5 inches or so with huge bushy faces that everyone loves. Females are smaller, about 3 inches, but that's just how big female bushynose get. Sometimes you'll see a 4 or 5 inch female but those are ancient fish when they get to that size, these females in the LG mix are the perfect breeder size. Start your bushynose pleco back-room breeding project tomorrow with a handful of these and some PVC pipes and sell babies for pure profit (almost). |

New! 1-Line Pim! Pretty cool and good size for how cheap they are! Very active catfish, like the pictus that they're closely related to. |
New! CW27 Cory cats |
Granulosus Cats had a massive price drop! The vender sent us some by accident instead of a much much cheaper catfish we ordered in their place, so we're passing on the savings |
LG Albino Bushynose range from about 3 to 5 inches (females are smaller) |
Green Hhantom (L200) restock is only in the XL size. They're pricey, but very very impressive. Pic taken in a room with no lights, under good lighting they're super bright yellow |
We got a large sized Spotted Puffer and they're MUCH better than the standard size for a very small upcharge in price. If you need puffers this week, definitely order those. Look at the picture below, the color on this larger size is fantastic, and they're not scared of anything. They wanted to eat my camera 6 inches above the surface of the water.
Those gigantic Platinum gouramis we had last week sold out finally, but the replacement Blue gouramis are almost as big so they're a solid buy this week. Golds are still running small so avoid the gold for the time being. Sunset gouramis are back in as new for this week too, and they're a perfect dwarf type with orange coloration. Neon Red and Blue are the best colored gourami though, they basically take the intense bright blue of the powder blue, but you can still see the red stripes on the sides for an extra cool-factor.
Got some Knight Gobies in, about 3 inches. They really need brackish tanks though, they don't do well at all in pure fresh even short term. We have to load their tank up with salt here and that still isn't good enough for them sometimes. They're a cool looking fish though, and would make perfect tankmates for a brackish setup with Scats, Archers, Sailfin Mollies, and Puffers!
Large sized Spotted Pufferfish are 5x nicer coloration than the regular size |
Blue Gourami are the standouts this week |
Neon red and blue dwarf gourami is the best looking out of the 4 types of dwarf gourami we carry |
Signifer Rainbows are basically full grown and have never looked better. Great time to pick up this nano-rainbow. |
Knight Goby - these really do need a truly brackish setup to do well. We keep them in freshwater with a higher salt content like mollies and they really do not do well like that. |
Shrimp, Snails & Other Inverts
This week we have a new 'mixed rabbit snail" that has some cool color shells and bodies in there. Definitely worth trying some of the mix and not just orange rabbits. Some might be "faunus" snails and not true rabbits, but they're close enough nobody should care about that small discrepancy.
For shrimp we have a lot of the same stuff as last week, but the restock looks better than usual. The orange cherry shrimp in particular are insanely bright and a clearly different color than the red cherry for anyone that likes to mix up their shrimp colors. |

Orange Cherry Shrimp |

Mixed rabbits are back, and my favorite in the mix are these cool yellow and black spotted body type , they look way cooler than the normal orange rabbits. |

The Saltwater stock-list gets sent out on MONDAY afternoon.
In saltwater, we offer tons of top-of-the-line corals. If you need really nice frags to sell for $10-15, we've got you covered. If you want a $400 show piece unique Australian brain corals, we've got that too. Tons of the coral frags are aquacultured in-house and are named lineage pieces of various SPS and LPS. Import frags that are MADE in-house are also available, and are great options to get slightly bigger pieces that customers want like torches, hammers, blastos, acans, zoas, etc. |
