Hey Folks,
We hope everybody that stopped by Global Pet Expo had a great time, found plenty of awesome deals on dry goods and hopefully a new vender or two to source from. If you came by the fish tanks and spoke to someone from Nautilus, you also will get to use the 20% show discount on regularly priced freshwater fish (not Glofish) in the near future (try to use it within a month or two, please). It wouldn't be a bad idea to remind your sales rep to give you the discount, but we do have everyone in a file that we saw. Hope to see you all again next year, and hope more stores can make the trip out too!
As I think everyone knows, we do bring our fish back from Global since it's just an hour down the road....so if you ordered Chameleon Whiptails or the large Adonis plecos and got scratched this week, we will get 2 or 3 more of each of those back here to sell for next week.
This is going to be a super brief update on the fish categories since we've been short-staffed every day this week with both bosses and one of the sales reps being at the show each day, so we haven't had any advance time to work on this email for you all, and I'm sorry about that. But we do have plenty of great pictures of current stock so you can at least look through those and see what's looking great, and look for the Monday writeup by Joe with a little more wordiness.
Thanks,
Steven Humphreys Nautilus |

Still have plenty of these guys left. Such a great fish everybody needs to see this picture again. |
|
Silver hatchets seem to be holding up well and are decent size so its a great time to get those. Bleeding hearts and cardinals also holding up well for the past week, so lots of imported fish doing well.
Florida tetras looking good are still going to be the same as last week pretty much: orange von rios, diamonds, large neons. |

|
|
Black Emperors still in stock and decent size |
|
|
Flagtail Prochs |

Asian rummynose are looking a little better, and the ones we set up at the show looked great with plants.
Tiger barbs are in stock again, and just a heads up the regular and medium are exactly the same size. The price is also almost exactly the same, so there's no downside, but there's no point in ordering both sizes.
Red glass got smaller, although we do still have a handful of nice ones coming back from Global to sell. Rosy still looking great. |

Chili Rasbora colored up in a planted tank |

Gold Roselines, have some decent ones coming back from the show to add into the tank of smaller crappier ones, so if you order them now you'll get a good mix of decent ones and mediocre ones. |
|
|
Rosy barbs are great size |

Got a guppy restock last week and there are tons and tons of great guppies to pick from now. A welcome change from last week.
Platinum metal heads, red rose, white dumbos, red endlers, and red pandas are all exceptional. Blue moscow have the best price to tail size ratio.
Have a decent selection of swords, including greens that are finally back in stock for the first time in months.
Best platy is the yellow calico. |

Red Tux Guppy |

Mix platies |

Chili oscars were a hit at Global and if you haven't tried them yet you probably should. The price seems crazy to me that stores can sell them, but apparently they do sell super well for everyone I talked to.
Still have a handful of nice medium size carptintis and one 5 inch Zonatus left if you're looking for larger fish. |
|
|
Chili oscars are super bright red |
|
|
Redspotted turq severum (1.5-2 inches) Also have same size rainbows florida bred |
|

Like I mentioned up top, I have all the OB fish you could possibly want. I have three or four of the OB rostratus/red empress crosses ('redstratus'). These are unlike any other OB fish, with a vibrant blue/green face like a rostratus. Got in new OB yellow peacocks that are a little mixy in size but all of them have amazing color. And I have more large to XL size 'assorted OB Malawi Fish' that include peacocks, haps, and pea-haps. THey're pretty much all pea-haps but some of them look more like one or the other. All of them are fantastic. Been keeping these at one per tank so they're keeping their color pretty well.
In addition to the OB stuff I have a new set of Lwanda peacocks. Medium males with great color including a nice red/orange blaze on the dorsal fin. Medium albino sunshines are outstanding as well. Plenty of smaller peacocks left too but I'm getting low. Still have a few Bengas, lemon jakes, and caramel albino flavescents.
Bubblegum socos are in stock again. This is a very unique aquarium strain that's pink and blue splotched. This batch has some darker blue blotches as well as their signature light blue and pink. They're not easy to photograph, but everybody that's ordered them has re-ordered. Really good looking fish with a great name.
Most of my common mbunas continue to run big. Auratus, socos, snow white socos, red zebras, kenyi, EB johannis, and albino zebras are all big. Still have a few fancy mbunas left including Mbenji ruby OBs, Lab chismulae, and jewel-spot elongatus.
Plain old jewel cichlids are in stock this week. They've been out of stock longer than firemouths so I expect they'll go fast. Size is pretty good, color is good and will be great now that they're warming up. Fins are a little rough, and that may get worse as they warm up. These fish are jerks.
Got in limited numbers of nicholsi dwarf cichlids. Uncommon in the trade, this set is mostly male. When fully fired up they're beautiful blue and red fish. They stay small and you can treat them like a miniature Lake Victorian Hap.
Speaking of Vics, I have new red nyererei in stock this week and they're on special again because I didn't realize we actually had them. They're mixed sex but may be a little male heavy. The males are already super bright even at a small size. Like almost all Vics they're precosious breeders so the males fire up small and I'll probably have females holding eggs by Monday. Rock kribs are still great size and super colorful (and have an easier name compared to nyererei). Pink piebald haps are small but getting more piebald every week. |

The Saltwater stock-list gets sent out on MONDAY afternoon.
In saltwater, we offer tons of top-of-the-line corals. If you need really nice frags to sell for $10-15, we've got you covered. If you want a $400 show piece unique Australian brain corals, we've got that too. Tons of the coral frags are aquacultured in-house and are named lineage pieces of various SPS and LPS. Import frags that are MADE in-house are also available, and are great options to get slightly bigger pieces that customers want like torches, hammers, blastos, acans, zoas, etc. |
