Hey Folks,
I've been out of the office most of the week at a trade show and just got a chance to walk through the farm last night. Plenty of nice stuff here although I don't have a signature shipment for this week.
Ranchus came in last week and look great. Just about every type of fancy goldfish has been hard to come by for quite a while, so I expect these to sell out in a hurry. The conformation is pretty good, it's a nice mix of color, and the size is good too.
Bowfin came in this week. Sometimes referred to as false snakeheads, this is a big US native monster fish. They get up to 2.5' feet long and they are not friendly so they need big tanks. This species is found throughout much of the US, but the fish I have in today are Florida fish. I'm sure they're cool tolerant but I don't know if populations from Florida are as cold-tolerant as the northern populations. I'm sure these are fine as a pond fish in southern states. As these are US natives please make sure to check your state regulations regarding native species. Some states consider these 'trash fish' and have no regulations, other states regulate all native species. They are toothy and mean right from the start so you may be hard pressed finding tankmates that work.
If you're dying to have a big mean pet fish and don't have the patience to wait on the bowfin to grow up I restocked on some big dovii this week. Big being relative, they'll get at least twice their current size. Much like the bowfin, this is going to be challenging to keep with other fish in all but the biggest aquarium. That means public aquarium size tanks. Dovii are going to find an 8' or 10' or 15' tank to be a little too cramped to have roommates.
Please give a call if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Joe Hiduke Nautilus |

Blue tetras (fredcochui) that came in a few weeks ago are finally looking stable and they're super colorful. Nice size for this fish and super bright. Got in new gold tetras and green neons this week. Still have fantastic looking bleeding hearts. The mediums I've been getting are just as big as the larges I had several weeks ago.
For bigger wild fish, I have outstanding flagtail Prochs. They're big and the fins have a nice orange cast. Got in a new batch of pacus too. Terrible fish that you shouldn't stock. If you want something toothy but less of a tank-buster get the Exodons, they're among the best display fish you can have in a species tank.
I'm back in stock with Florida-bred black phantoms this week and they look really good. Not huge but the color is nice. Jumbo neons, pastel gold neons, diamond tetras (on sale), longfin blushing white skirts, longfin black skirts, and Coloimbian tetras all look pretty good too.
Blind cave tetras should be on the list this week. They've been here for a while but they were so small when they got her that they've just been hanging out in a vat for a couple months. They're not big right now but they're finally up to sellable size.
Some other far-east fish that look good include lemon tetras, big penguin tetras, ember tetras, all male Congos (small but with good color), and emperor tetras (also small). |

Albino cherry barbs are back in stock. I don't think I have very many and I'm not sure if I can get more, so get them while you can. They're not big but they're certainly acceptable, and the males are red. They're about twice the size of the crappy import regular cherry barbs.
Florida-bred black ruby barbs got a lot brighter this week. They're not showing full adult color but they're getting close to coloring up. You can see a red flush in the pic below; this will bee deep purplish-red not too long from now. Florida red glass barbs are still big and super bright, and nearly all males. Rosy barbs are probably back to mix-sex only this week but I'll try for more males. Tiger barbs are unavailable in the regular size but I have mediums and huge large tiger barbs today. Zebra danios might be the most boring and common fish that stood out. Common but not commonly this big and nice; these are exceptional. Pearl danios and giant danios look good too.
Lots of nice import cyprinids too. The Asian rummynose are outstanding. There's plenty of fish already showing red noses, and the body is looking white instead of translucent. Galaxy rasboras are back in stock. Not very big but big enough to look like galaxy rasboras. Snakeskin barbs, checkerboard barbs, and platinum green tiger barbs all look good too. |

XL balloon mollies are some of the most ridiculous balloon fish I've seen here. They're nearly golf ball size, with big sailfins. Nice mix of colors too.
I might have a handful of pineapple swords for next week. Velvets and velvet wags are not very velvety and there's no males. Kohakus are nice size but again no males. Sankes are small but very colorful. Males in this set but most of them aren't showing much sword yet. The big vampire swords and firecracker swords are both very nice with deep red color.
I have quite a few XL assorted platies this week, as well as an XL red platy. Great size, at least twice the size of the regular platies. Dawn platies are back in stock and have great color. Candy cane mickeys and redtail crystal platies are both back in stock too. They're pretty but both types are small. Blue mickeys, sunset wags and sunset platies are all nice.
Best guppies this week are red coral guppies, red dragon dumbos, midnights, lemons, and tequilas. |

Still siting on a bunch of Peru altum angels. These aren't true altums but they are a very high-bodied wild scalare type. Often bred into domestic strains to improve conformation and hardiness, these are very sturdy fish.
Florida-bred angels are doing well. I'm back in stock with small mix veils. Medium koi look great. And I have a new set of large black angels.
Small heckeli threadfin eartheaters are in stock again. They're decent size and you can already see the rows of pearly spots on their sides.
Your best (and by that I mean only) options for cheap Centrals are black convicts, pink convicts (bot decent size) and Texas cichlids (very small). I do have nice 3"+ red devils as well.
Some less common Centrals that look good include way oversized trimacs and spectabilis, and I have one or two big big istlanum and trimacs.
Electric blue jacks are in stock now. Very small but they are crazy bright and have pretty good conformation. Great conformation for this fish.
Blood parrots came in huge. Size and color is fantastic. They're about 10 times bigger than the blue tiger parrots.
Restocked on all types of oscars. The red tigers are oversized with really good color. Albinos look really good too. |

Running another special on the big OB Malawi fish. These on special as an XL peacock (I think). They're a bit mixy in size and the smaller ones are a little small for XL, but the color is insane on all of these fish. These come from many different lines so there's a ton of variety in color including some pearly ones, some high-yellow types, some blue and oranges, just about anything you can imagine in an OB fish.
I also have more than a few big colored up male venustus, redfin borleyi, and rhoadesi. For smaller fish, the borleyi are very nice size with great color in the fins already. Pink piebald haps are small but showing good pink and piebald. Rock kribs are big and bright.
Plenty of fantastic mbunas in stock right now. Medium size red zebras and EB johannis are both running big and very bright. Regular size OB zebras, red zebras, pearl zebras OB fuelleborni, and kennyi are all oversized. My fancier types aren't big but they are getting bright, at least the bigger males in the tanks are. White-top afras are the biggest and most colorful. Chewere and jewel-spot elongatus, flavus, avantis, and ruby OBs are all very nice too.
Still have plenty of varieties of peacocks too. None of them are big but they all have bigger fish in the tank that are getting hints of color. Still have Ngaras, Bengas, Mareli sunshines and lemon jakes. |

OB Peacock/Hap All the lg/xl pea-haps are on special again this week. Wide variety in appearance and size, they range from good size to great size. |

Blue phantom plecos are as blue as I have seen them here, and they've only been here two weeks. They usually take a lot longer before they color up. They're not very big but they are super bright. Green phantoms have been here for many weeks and they're getting super bright too. Been here long enough that the fins are pretty clean. Also restocked on plenty of Colombian zebras and Colombian snowballs. They're both pretty small right now. Still have limited numbers of mustard-spot plecos and large adonis plecos from Peru.
Got in a new batch of skunk cories and punctatus cories this week. They both look pretty good and are hopefully good to go for next week. Lots of pygmaeus in stock and they've been holding up well recently.
BB cats are a little mixy in size but mostly a lot bigger than they've been recently. Banjo cats are pretty good size too. Spotted and striped raphaels both came in big as well. Farlowellas are also big.
Some other import catfish that stand out include Burmese sun cats, chameleon whiptails, otos, Colombian sharks, and four-line pims. Not sure if I'll have any spotted pictus this week. If I do you probably don't want them as they are tiny.
Lots of nice Florida-bred Synos. The jaguar Synos are the best value. They're close to the price of the tiny import petricolas and fill the same niche in the market, and they're about five times the size. They're almost as big as the asst 3" Synos which are also a great value. The eupterus/angelicus crosses are all oversized and look great.
Small Florida bushynose are mostly junk, but the 1-1.5" longfins are actually on the high end of their size range. I have been getting limited numbers of 2" and up bushynose, and they're very nice, well worth the higher prices.
'Borneo sucker' hillstream loaches in stock this week are the ones from China. Similar but not the same as the Indo fish, these are a bit more elongate with a saddled pattern. Care is about the same but these probably prefer slightly cooler temps. Sewellia hillstream loaches came in a little bigger this week and look really good. Still have a few tiger botias, and maybe some redtail botias as well. |

I have a handful of gardneri killis in stock this week. These are all Indo tank-raised fish and they're relatively sturdy. They don't need soft acidic water and they eat flake food. They don't get as big as the gold wonder killis but the colors are crazy bright.
Medium boesmanis are still the brightest rainbow here but I don't want to send pictures of the same fish every week. The medium yellows, Goyder River, turquoise, and kamakas are all very nice as well. Large emeralds are huge and super bright. Should be getting in some of the albino orange millennium rainbows over the weekend. For smaller rainbows, the signifers (on special) are great size with nice fins and a ton of yellow.
Red paradise are probably the prettiest gourami. Size is OK, color is fantastic. Florida blues and albinos are very mixed in size but the bigger ones have good color. For standard gouramis, the blues look good. Moonlights are very nice and have been long out of stock. Golds and opalines may come in over the weekend. Import gold honey are very pretty and great fish for smaller tanks.
Various other odds and ends that stand out include outrageous big and bright medium peacock gudgeon gobies, Florida flagfish, figure-8 puffers, dwarf puffers, panda garras, doctor fish, brown ghost knives, and Burmese tiretrack eels. |

Back in stock with albino mystery snails this week. These have white feet, not white shells. Also have lots of blacks, ivories and gold mystery snails. Should have at least limited numbers of orange rabbit snails and maybe a few yellow-spot rabbit snails too. Assassin snails are limited but I'm expecting more early next week.
Shrimp selection is a bit limited today too. I have nice yellow fire shrimp, the gold-back type. Orange cherry shrimp and nice size. Red crystals are in stock but not great quality this week, the pattern is a little fuzzy. Blue shrimp are small but have good color. |

The Saltwater stock-list gets sent out on MONDAY afternoon.
In saltwater, we offer tons of top-of-the-line corals. If you need really nice frags to sell for $10-15, we've got you covered. If you want a $400 show piece unique Australian brain corals, we've got that too. Tons of the coral frags are aquacultured in-house and are named lineage pieces of various SPS and LPS. Import frags that are MADE in-house are also available, and are great options to get slightly bigger pieces that customers want like torches, hammers, blastos, acans, zoas, etc. |
