Hey Folks,
This week has been off to a crazy busy start, I'm guessing the blast of cold air got people inside and looking at their fish tanks more, always great to see. This whole week is going to be cold for the entire country, so hoping everyone sees an increase in foot traffic if you haven't already.
I also want to just remind everybody Thanksgiving is coming and NEXT WEEK is your last chance to order to have stuff in stock for the busiest shopping weekend of the year. If you're not running a sale of some type, you need to be. If you're not posting something on Facebook about what you're getting in for sale that week, you need to be. If you're not going to be open later hours than normal into the evening, you really, really should think about it. Staying 2 hours later than normal Friday and Saturday will probably turn into hundreds and hundreds of dollars of extra revenue, well worth your time as an owner. Just don't get caught flat footed next week with no plan and no fish to sell, because the week of thanksgiving is virtually impossible for shipping, and trust me, you'd rather get your stuff early and hold it a week than try and be a last minute stocker-upper.
This week I don't have much new to report over the weekend since our email from Friday, but we did forget to get pictures of a couple important thigns that we'll highlight below.
Also, the Wild Discus are out of quarantine and ready for sale again, in case you were looking for them. If you've never tried wild discus before, they're very fun. They behave completely differently from tank raised discus....much more alert, active, and skittish, making them a much more interesting fish for display.
While not NEW for today, there are a lot of extremely nice Florida bred fish we got restocked over the weekend that are worth pointing out to make sure you notice. First, the medium green severums, Im almost positive the price is wrong on those (no way they're cheaper than regular-sized golds, right?) so grab some for sure before we fix that next week. They're about 3 inches and look amazing. Also, the 2 inch bushynose plecos are a gigantic step up from the smaller and cheaper size, well worth the price.
Also don't forget, the large assorted gouramis are back as an item this week! These have been flying out of here already, and are always super popular. people love big versions of the fish they always see in stock at young sizes each week. I think every store should be ordering these, personally.
The one new fish that will not be on the stock list that we did get in over the weekend are some Lemon Oscars. This batch is smaller than normal, as you can see in the photo below, but the color is still very good. Look to be almost entirely the solid yellow "red" types instead of "tiger" types where the yellow doesnt show up as much.
