Hey folks,
As you can see from the opening title cards the wait is almost over. Electric Green Angels launch in just over a week. We've been featuring them on our socials and the response has been huge. Everyone is super excited and as you can see from the pic below these pair great with the Starfire Reds . We were at LA Pet Fair this past weekend and everyone was asking when these were going to be available so be sure to stock up once they hit the list. And speaking of LA Pet Fair it was a huge turnout. If you haven't been before I highly recommend you attend next year. It was great to see where the hobby is trending and got so much great feedback from the end consumer. In addition to the Angels everyone was going crazy over the Starfire Red Gouramis. They all look great together and this is going to be a huge launch.
I'm going to reverse engineer things this week and start with Florida raised Cichlids first. Reason being is that we have gotten in some absolute stunners as far as Central/Southies go. I'll start with the most basic one and that's the large Firemouths. Almost forgot what these looked like as adults lol. There's a reason this fish has been such a staple in the hobby for so long. Even though it's common no one can argue how colorful these guys really are. Closely related to those are the Blue Aureus. We've gotten these in at a small/regular size a couple of times but never big enough to be showing color but that's all changed now. Have them both in a medium and a large size. Got a pic of one of the larges down below. They're not quite as flashy as the Firemouth but still very attractive in their own right and far less common. Cichlid aficionados will be drooling over these. 4" Cubans also came in last week and they are right at the size where they are starting to show their sharp black and white contrast when they are sparring with each other. Be sure to provide plenty of cover for them as they are pretty aggressive at this age already. But my favorite has to be the 5" Dovii aka Wolf Cichlid. Super impractical as they typically won't tolerate other fish in the tank and they get massive in size. But they are also one of the most impressive fish money can buy.
Colombia came in last not with some much needed restocks. In addition to the usual suspects got in a new batch of Silver Arowanas that look great so far. Might actually have enough Farlowellas to fill more than one or two orders this time. We can never get enough of these no matter how many we order. New Pike Cichlids are Belly Crawler types at a very respectable size and an even better price. Silver Dollars have been in short supply as of late but should have plenty to go around for at least a week or so. Wild Bushynose are mixy in size as usual but there are definitely some big ones in the mix. But the most impressive of the shipment have to be the XL Royal Plecos. These guys are huge! Super sharp looking but also super limited so order early if you want one.
Asia never disappoints and this week is no exception. My absolute favorite far east import this time around without question are the Sidthimunki Dwarf Loaches. When I was in retail I could never keep these guys in stock and now that I'm on the other side of things that continues too be the case. If you've never tried these before do not miss out. These are a true dwarf species and stay around 2-2.5" and are quite docile. These are great for smaller tanks which everyone is into now. And since we're on the subject of Loaches we look to actually have a surplus of Striped Kuhli Loaches which never seems to happen. The supplier has been able to fill our orders the past few weeks so we're finally able to put them on the list without worrying about scratching them after one day lol. Red Lizard Cats are back. Last batch we got in sold out in a day and I imagine it will be a similar result this time around. Tried to order as many as we could but I'm sure it's still not enough. And to wrap thing up we got in what has to be one of my absolute favorite Tetras to come in balloon form, Penguins. These guys are both adorable and hilarious looking all at the same time. And surprisingly they tend to hold up really well. |

| The two colors of GloFish Angelfish look fantastic when mixed together! |
| Starfire Red Gourami |
| Starfire Red Angels are still shipping in good numbers and pair really well with the new Starfire Red Gouramis! |
| New XL Royal Plecos are massive! Some of the largest I've seen not just here but ever. EXTREMELY limited so reach out to your rep immediately if you want to snag one. |
| Wild Bushynose are always a crowd pleaser as they are good size, fantastic cleaners and relatively affordable. A must have every time they're available. |
| Farlowellas are back and might even have enough to fill through Sunday lol. Size is mixy as always but this is actually one of the smaller ones. But doesn't really matter as these are always in such high demand. |
| In addition to the Bushynose we got a closely related cousin of theirs, Black Cucata Plecos. These guys tend to stay a bit smaller and develop fewer bristles. They are just as good at cleaning and display a really neat marbled pattern as they settle in. |
| Whiptail Cats are back and will be gone as soon as I'm done typing this. This is more of a PSA than a sales pitch just to let everyone we know we have them. They're so cheap they typically sell out immediately as soon as orders start coming in for the week. |
| Arowanas came in late last night. This is basically just another awareness pic. They look good, they sell great. The end. |
| New batch of Pike Cichlids are a belly crawler type which is now the new norm. But that also means they're very affordable which is what people are looking for this time of year. |
| Bumble Bee Cats are about as cute as they get. Sell much better tat the smaller size as opposed to full grown adults. |
| South American Lungfish are about the healthiest batch I've ever seen. been here for a month now and still holding up perfectly. They're on special this week too! Keep in mind these do get absolutely gigantic, so they're not something to be selling to people willly-nilly, they need an educated keeper. |
| Silver Dollars also came in this week. Been unavailable for the past couple of months but hopefully the supply will be a bit more reliable for the next few upcoming months. Most popular silver fish in the hobby. |
| Everyone's favorite neon, Green Neons are back. These are wild from Colombia, and not quite as hardy as tank raised neons, but they're a bit cheaper and do have a different greenish color to them. |
| We had a display of Exodons at the LA Pet Fair this this past weekend and people went absolutely nuts over them. It always amazes me how many people there are out there that are still unfamiliar with this species. |
| Shoehead Cats might just be one of the ugliest fish on the planet. But you know what else they are...good sellers. Guess people are intrigued by a brown blob that lies motionless on the bottom of the tank lol. |
| Dwarf Sidthimunki Loaches are back! Last time we got these they sold out in a day, and for good reason. As the name would suggest they stay small and they are peaceful. Great scavenger for smaller tanks which continue to be incredibly popular. |
| This is a pic of what the Sidthimunki Loaches look like currently but the just got in last night. Won't be long before they look like the previous stock photo. |
| Strpied Kuhli Loaches are in and looks like we have really good numbers on them. So if you've gotten scratched on them in the past this is a good week to stock up since we should have enough to go around. |
| Red Lizard Cats are one of if not the coolest looking Loricariids. Small for now but once they grow up they have a very elegant appearance covered in rust colored red. |
| Balloon Penguins are back baby! Quite possibly my favorite of all the "balloon" style fish in the hobby. And the best part is they get more balloony as they grow. |
| Choprai Danios are huge (relatively speaking) and chowing full color. Not sure if this technically qualifies as a "nano" fish but it's awfully close. Certainly works well in smaller tanks which is what everyone is looking for right now. |
| Orange Chromides make a triumphant return after being on hiatus for the past couple of months. One of the only Asiatic Cichlids to consistently grace the hobby with its presence this aquarium strain version shows a bright apricot colored base with fine red spotted pinstriping. |
| BB Gobies are back. Mention these every time we get them because when available they are the best selling Goby in the FW/brackish part of the hobby. Super adorable, no one can resist these. |
| And speaking of brackish we got in a new batch of Knight Gobies which are some of the biggest we've seen in quite q while. One of the most popular species of Goby when available. |
| Unlike their brackish cousins the Rainbow Gobies do just fine in straight freshwater. Just make sure it isn't too soft as they do prefer it a bit on the alkaline side. Size is really good on these too, average close to 3 inches. |
| New batch of Clown Knives are right around the 3" mark and some are starting to go from Stipes to spots already. Just like the afore mentioned Redtail Cats these guys thrive when you keep a school of feeders on them at all times. |
| Cherry Barbs are running huge this week. Full transparency they are bit female heavy but at this size it really doesn't matter, still a great looking fish. |
| Green Tiger Barbs are running well oversize this week. This can vary from one batch to the next so it's a good week to stock up |
| Black Ruby Barbs are back! It's been months since these have been available so I'm willing to bet the first few batches are gonna fly out of here but hopefully we will see these continue to come in throughout the summer. |
| I say this every summer but that's because it's true, most of the Rainbows here at the farm are running big this time of year and the Featherfins are not exception. There are some of the most impressive males I have ever seen in this week's batch. |
| Medium Red Rainbows are more like larges this week. Huge and in full color. |
| Red Honey Gouramis are back finally. We have had Gold Honey lately, but the Red Honey look a lot more striking in most tanks. The red really stands out. I'm sure they'll go quick. |
| XL Platies are definitely worth the premium over the standard size platies. Something about a big platy just looks so much better. It seems like their color really saturates in as they grow. |
| Velvet Wag Swordtails this week look like this. I'm not trying to sell you on them by pointing this out, it's more of a PSA/heads-up. Not very velvety at all. |
| 7 inch Common Plecos didn't sell out last week somehow, We actually still have enough I'm pointing them out in the email! |
| Bloodfin tetras are running big |
| Mixed sex Congos are considerably bigger than the all males. Definitely the better value this week. |
| Blue Tetras are super unique, still in stock, holding up great for weeks now. |
| Serpaes are coming in great size lately. it's funny how no breeders have any for sale for half a year, and then when they're finally available what we get is great size. You'd expect them to be tiny, but they're not. |
| We are still running the special on these LG EB Carpintis! Got more restocked Friday to hopefully last through next week, but they have been running out on Thursday. |
| Medium eb acara are restocked from a local source, and this is a great looking batch. Tons of good color, not washed out or pale at all. |
| New(ish) fish alert!!! Macracanthus, AKA Black Throat Cichlids are here for the first time forever. This rare Central American is very unique, google pictures of adults. I used to have one in my tank at home and he was my favorite fish. He would be pretty normal looking most the time, but when food got put in, he would turn jet black in seconds, and fly all over gobbling the food. Super cool fish. |
| Chanchito aka Rose Breast Cichlid are not NEW here, but it's been at least 5 years since they were in stock. Chanchito (spanish for "little piggy") are another medium sized CA cichlid that would be a fin addition to a tank with Oscars, Firemouths, Carpintis, Jacks, Terrors, etc. |
| New "Tabasco" Salvini are here as well for the first time. This is a locality-specific strain from a certain lake that produces much brighter yellow fish with a nice big red patch on the sides. Most are smaller than the one pictured, but all are showing color already. The best thing is they're not much more at all than a normal "aquarium-strain" Salvini that we normally carry. |
| Got a handful, and I do mean a handful, of Chocolates available this week. |
| New Dimerus Acara aka Port Cichlids are a text book example of what this fish should look like. While they may not be flashy or brightly colored they are still a fan favorite for old school hobbyists (present company included lol). |
| We still have a couple of these beautiful 5 inch Heckelli available as well. Maybe 6 left. Not oversized like some of the previous batches but on point and definitely worth the money. |

| Sunkist Orange shrimp are back, always popular |
| Bloody Mary are back as well, a great option for a darker red shrimp compared o the brighter lighter red of the red fire or cherry shrimp. |
