Brazil is back and that means so are Gold Nugget Plecos! We brought in as many of each type as we could but we are sure to run out so order early. Pictured here is L-177 the Irri or Queen Gold Nugget. Definitely the nicest of the three and definitely the first to sell out.

    News & New Items
    Hey Everyone,

I don't need to say much this week other than BRAZIL IS HERE!!! We have been waiting for months to get Brazil in. The hold up has been lack of availability due to weather. But the wait is finally over. We brought in as much as we could but I can guarantee it's not gonna be enough so as soon as you read this place your order immediately. Of course the main topic will be the Gold Nugget Plecos. We got in all three: L-18, L-81 & L-177. All look great and there are pics of all three featured here in the email. My suggestion is to grab some of each type so you have enough to go around for your customers. But Gold Nuggets aren't the only Plecos we got in from Brazil. Others include Thresher, Polka Dot and the highly coveted Goldy. In addition to plecos we got in a handful of Anableps aka Four Eyed Fish.

You all know about the fancy plecos so I don't need to talk about them in much detail other than to say "if you're not carrying gold nugget plecos when they're available, you're leaving money on the table".  Your customers want these, I guarantee it.  People run entire online-based fish "stores" on strictly selling these rare and highly demanded Brazilian Plecos, so putting 3 in your store is not going to be a wrong choice for you.

I DO however feel like I need to talk about Anableps for a minute.  They're probably the most unique and coolest fish we've gotten in several years.  They're very, very rare, and the retail price online is over $100 for these, so even though they don't seem cheap, you have plenty of money to make even if you sell them quite a bit lower than that.  They're a LIVEBEARER!  But, they have specially adapted sex organs that honestly make them extremely difficult to breed in captivity.  Male can swing their gonipodium EITHER to the left OR the right, but not both.   Each male can only go one direction. And to further complicate things, the females can only accept fertilization from either their left OR their right side.  So I "left handed' male must breed with only a "right handed" female.  Its not like guppies or swordtails where you put 1 male with 4 females and you get babies.  You put 1 male anableps with 4 females, he MIGHT be able to breed with 2 of your 4 females and the other 2 might by physcially impossible for breeding.  And it's possible you end up with a right handed male and 4 right handed females.  So these fish are more of a "buy them to resell and enjoy them" than a hobbyist breeding project type of fish.  Luckily they're also extremely personable and fun to watch.  They also get up to 7-8 inches long, so not a small fish.  They stay on the surface and use their double eyes to see out of the water as well as under the water, and like to eat meaty foods on the surface like crickets.  So they will learn to easily recognize their owners and see you walking over to their tank.  They're honestly just such a cool fish.  I should stop gushing over them now, there's a lot more to work on this email.

While Brazil was certainly the most exciting shipment we got in this week it wasn't the only one with some great pieces on it. From the far east we got in an assortment of Brackish water species including Mono Sebae, Green Scats and Spotted Puffers. All look great and are sure to attract clientele that aren't going to find them in most chain stores. We also got in Striped Kuhlis for the first time in several weeks. Very limited so don't sleep on these. We also got in some fully colored Rainbow Dace. While they won't look like that all year round they amazing now and will sell out very quickly. Tank Raised Uaru are also in form the far east this week. Albeit on the small side people are alwys looking for these.

As I've mentioned before since we started carrying a more consistent supply of Discus the demand has continued to grow each and every week. Just about every tub is full so there are plenty to choose from. The 2.5" Blue Diamonds and Marlboro Reds are my picks for the week but as I say every time if you're not sure what to get you can almost never go wrong with the assorted.

And although it might be a little early I want to remind everyone that we will be at SuperZoo in Vegas this upcoming August. Want to start planting that seed in case any of you are still on the fence about going. It's one of the largest events for our industry with hundreds of vendors and manufacturers from all over the world. There's always lots of new products being showcased and we are also bringing a few surprises ourselves. Plus it's Vegas. Good way to turn a work trip into a vacation Hope to see you there!

    Brazil
As I mentioned above Brazil is back and of course the most popular item are the L-18 Gold Nugget Plecos. Kinda obvious why these will be one of the first to sell out. We ordered as many as we could but I don't expect these to be around for more than a week or two so order early.
The L-81 Gold Nuggets aka Orange Seam (I hate that name because there's another Pleco of no relation already called that) have the finest spotting of all the "Nugget " types. I recommend stocking all three since it's been a about a year since we've had them in and there's no telling how long it'll be till the next shipment
Polka Dot Pleco L-020 may not be as flash as any of the Gold nugget types but they have a very distinct look about them. They are short and stout with oversized scales and a very unique diamond pattern to them. They were only here a couple hours when I took this photo so they're still very muted. Google a pic of these and you'll see why I'm so excited we got them in.
Thresher L-035 is another understated species of Pleco that is also a bit of a standout. It has a very elongated body and lyretail that will continue to extend as it grows. Again these had just arrived when I took the pic but once they settle in they're spotted pattern is very pronounced.
Goldy Pleco L-014 speak for themselves. Arguably one of the most attractive species of Pleco there is. These get considerably larger than most of the other fancy plecos we got in but are very slow growers. It is however well worth the wait since these are absolute show stoppers once they mature.
It has been many years since we've had Anableps aka Four Eyed Fish available. These guys will spend most of their time at the surface waiting for food to drop in. They float on the surface, with their eyeballs poking out, like frogs or mudskippers but they're fully aquatic. One of the most unique looking fish in the world.
    Asia Imports
Turkana Jewels are a very unique and beautiful species of Jewel Cichlid and this batch is the best I've ever seen.  Normally they stay pale brown here in our tanks, but these fired up to bright bright red almost immediately upon arrival.  Must be ready to make some babies.
Balloon Jewel Cichlids are back in from the far east. While the may be weeble shaped don't let that fool you. These little speed demons can still race around the tank and beat the living daylights outta each other so give them plenty of room and cover so they don't tear themselves apart.
Kribensis are back for the first time in ages and the size is surprisingly pretty good. They often come in about the size of a pinky nail but these are pretty respectable and will start showing color almost immediately once they're over some substrate.
New Batch of Spotted Puffers are slightly larger than the last few but are just as adorable. I've said this in the past but holds true that the smaller they are the quicker they sell. I attribute that to the cuteness factor.
Mono Sebaes are back and so far looking pretty solid. These definitely do best under brackish water conditions so be sure to throw some salt on them. These make good tankmates for the Spotted Puffers since they're to quick to nipped on.
Brackish water species seem to be a theme this week since we got a restock on some very nice Green Scats. Once acclimated these tend to hold up very well and so far this group looks fantastic. Took this pic right after they arrived and it's already to show some bright green coloration.
Borneo Suckers got a restock this week and there is quite a bit of size difference within the group. Regardless these seem to sell out very quickly every time and a much better option as clean up crew for smaller tanks as opposed to common Plecos.
Rainbow Gobies are back and about as big as the last batch. Both groups are about as big as I've ever seen as they usually tend to come in rather small. But these are showing they adult coloration and look amazing.

Black Ruby barbs are now at the point where the males are coloring up in our bare bottom tanks. So imagine what they'll look like once they over some dark substrate and a background. One of if not my favorite Barbs.
It's Summertime so once again large Tiger Barbs are absolutely huge. Yes, they are one of the most common staple out there but that doesn't mean that they're boring. The bigger they are the faster they sell.
Platinum Green Tiger Barbs are back and platinumy as ever. Yes I know that's not a word but it's the best description I could come up with. If I had to choose between these and the regular Greens I would go with these all day long. They typically came in at a much bigger size and stand out as far as color is concerned.
Florida raised Albino Paradise are as nice as they get. Plenty of fired up males like this in the batch.
Rainbow Dace came in in just about full color on the males.  They don't look this good year round, so now is the best time by far to stock these if you want to have them at some point.  The males only fire up while breeding.
    Tetras
Blue Kerris are one of my absolute favorite Tetras for two reason. One because they're bright purple. Two because you're not gonna see them in chain stores and everybody that wants these will have to come to you.
Still getting small Silver Dollars in for the time being. I often say bigger is better when it comes to most species but this is the exception to the rule. These sell much better at a smaller size. Just make sure your customers understand how big these guys can get. Nowhere near Pacu size but certainly bigger than a Neon lol.
Black Emperor Tetras are back in stock and while this batch is a tad on the small side they still stand out amongst most other Tetras. Jet black with a purple sheen and blue/green eyes makes for a stunning color combination.
Yup, we're back on Black Phantoms again. But it's not just because they're still awesome and huge. It's because they're also on special this week. Not like you should require added incentive to buy these, they're spectacular
Rosy aka poor man's Candy Cane Tetra are running well above average with really good color. They deserve more attention than they get.
Like everything else Bloodfins are running big and beautiful this week.
    Livebearers
    Green Cobra Guppies
Black Endlers are back and always one of the most popular colors of livebearer.

Pink Tux Guppies look great, either from in a tank or above in a pond!
Red Tiger Platy are extra tiger-y this time.  Great patterns.
Vampire Swordtails are back in stock, definitely the brightest and largest sword right now.
    Rainbows
I say this just about every week but the hotter it gets the bigger the Rainbows get. This week's award for best looking Rainbow goes to the Neon Dwarf. These are just about full grown and are absolute stunners. They don't get any better than this.
Medium Reds are quite as impressive when it comes to size but the color is fantastic and the male/female ratio is about 50/50.
You can never go wrong with the Deep Water Creeks (Firetail is a much better name for these). Arguably the best looking Rainbow there is.
    Dynamite Discus
    Marlboro Red 2.5"
Found this Leopard Discus in the 2.5" assorted mix.
    Blue Diamond 2.5"
    Assorted 2.5"
    Central/South American Cichlids
I feature these every time we get them in because they're my favorite Central/Southie out there. These are the 4" size on the Cubans but if you're looking for something a little smaller and cheaper we also got in 2" this week.
Got in another batch of 4"+ Carpintis from one of local vendors. He probably has the purest strain in all of Florida so these are only going to get better with age.
From the same vendor as above we got in more True Red Terrors aka Festae Cichlids. You don't have to take my word for it, check out adults of the same bloodline down below.
Parents to the above. We do NOT have these in stock, just the juveniles pictured above.
Medium sized Jacks got restocked this week. Fantastic value on these, showing great color and about 2.5 inches.
Honduran Red Points are a nice upgrade from normal Convicts.  HRP's get a lot more blue in the body, and reddish fins, especially the males.   They're also not as easy to breed as convicts, so you don't have the same overpopulating issues.
Geophagus Heckelli are back in 3 sizes this week!  We have 3 inch, 4 inch (pictured) and 5 inch.
4 Inch EB Acaras are absolutely phenomenal. Always some of the best color you'll find, and the price isn't too bad on them at this size either.  Jumbos are only a little bit bigger, and cost twice as much (when we can get them).
3 Inch Trimac Cichlids are back.  These are one of the fish hybridized to make Flowerhorns, and you can see the flowerhorn-like pattern on these.  Very aggressive Cichlid, so make sure you have a plan on where to put these.
We also have Trimacs available at 5 inch, showing more color than the smaller guys.
    Old World Cichlids
Still have a few Ndiwe Fire Haps but I do mean a few. Like literally two or three pieces. Color is amazing and these would make a fantastic addition to any dislpay.
"Red Sun" Peacock is a new strain from a local breeder.  They basically look like red shoulders to me, but the body is a little more slender. Group is mixed sex with a male/female ratio of about 60/40.
Regular Assorted Haps sold out so quickly they barely made the list. Hope these will too because there is a great mix in there and you get a lot of bang for the buck. There are some hybrids in there but they're still a great value.
Assorted haps also come in a medium size.  Plenty of good looking fish in there.
    Plecos & Pals
Colombian plecos might not be as exciting as the Brazil stuff since we ALWAYS have these in stock, but just pointing out that yes, we do also have both Colombian Snowball and Colombian Zebras available for you this week as well.
    Colombian Zebra Pleco
Tiger Shovelnose small are added to the list.  We still have the 3-4 inch ones as well.  These are a lot cheaper, but honestly the larger size is a better value.
    Inverts
Land Hermit Crabs came in with waaaayyyy different shells than normal!  These must have gotten collected on a different location or island, because normally the shells are all mexican turbo snails.
Blueberry snails are restocked slightly.  Probably going to run out again on Monday like we did last week, but hey, we have them.  If you order 50 for a Wednesday or Thursday pack, you're probably going to be disappointed.
Assorted deluxe shrimp are a great mix like always.
