Hey folks,
For those of you that made it to AquaShella this past weekend I hope you all had as much fun as we did. It was a great turn out and everyone that came by our booth was super excited to see the new items that are launching this spring and summer. With as many people that came by our booth you should start receiving calls inquiring about both the Angels and the Gouramis. Creating a demand before the supply always helps sales.
Well apparently there's no rest for the wicked because as soon as we got back from Aquashella we had to get right back to it. But before we get to the fish I would like to thank everyone who has been checking out our social media content. We had one of our Instagram videos eclipse 6M views this week! So if you haven't seen any of our content yet please click on the links above.
Now on to the fun stuff. So many great new items this week it's hard to know where to begin but let's go with Peru. Haven't gotten anything from there in a while so there are definitely some restocks as well as some items that are either new or long lost favorites. I think everyone's top pick will be the Asellus aka Amazon Puffers. These freshwater gumballs are one of if nit the most popular species when available. These are running about an inch right now but that's not necessarily a bad thing as they tend to acclimate more readily at this size. Be sure to pump them full of frozen foods as that helps bolster their immune system. Next I'm going to jump ahead to my favorite item and that's the Sunset Apistos. While they are mixy in both size and sex there are some big males in the group. I am tempted top grab a few of these for my office. Next on my list are the Splash Tetras. Why these haven't become a Florida bred staple is beyond me. I understand there are a few tricks to breeding them but I would love to see this species available with more frequency as I'm sure everyone else would as well. And speaking of Tetras we got in some of the world's biggest Bleeding Hearts. Color is great but the size is amazing.
Peru had no shortage of bottom dwellers this week. Oil Cats (better known as Honeycombs) are back on this shipment. A dwarf driftwwod species these benefit from softer conditions so cutting their source water with R/O is highly recommended. Banjos came in big as they usually do from there. Zebra Otos are as nice as ever. Pygmy Cories are in for the first time in months and will probably be sold out in a day. And not to be outdone we got in a great selection of Plecos including Adonis, Flash, Redfin Thresher and Iquitos Tigers.
Indo almost always has at least a few choice goodies on each order and this week's did not disappoint. I'm gonna start with the restock of the Adolfoi Cories. If you missed out on them last time then here's your chance to make up for it. Size is even bigger and they orange caps are super bright. And speaking of Cories we also got in Reynoldsi for what I believe is the first time ever. These are a banded type and they came in absolutely huge. You will not be disappointed with these. Same goes for the new Samurai Gouramis. These are some of the biggest I have seen in years. I have found these to be significantly easier to keep than their Chocolate cousins. And since we're talking about oversized specimens the new Black Emperors are outstanding this week. About as big as they come in from Indo with a metallic purple sheen. But if you want an example of exceptional then look no further than the Choprai Danios. These ARE the biggest, nicest I have ever laid eyes on.
And as usual we can't have a newsletter without including some good ole Florida raised beauties. African Cichlids are gonna take center stage this week as we are preparing for Global next week I have set aside some gorgeous show pieces. However just as I normally do I set aside too much so some of these are spilling over onto the list. So many Peacocks in stock this week it's nit even funny. Mostly assorteds but got just about every size one could want. We also have a new item (new as a Florida raised item anyway) Tanganyikan Killies. These are still fairly uncommon in stores and are typically only found online so now's your chance to offer your customers something unique and highly sought after by collectors. But if rare and unusual isn't your thing then we also got restocked on plenty of gorgeous Mbuna including multiple sizes of the fancy mixed.
One last note. If you're planning to attend Global next week please stop by and see us in the Aquatics Lounge. You'll get to see all of our new offerings as well as receive a show discount just for saying hello. Hope to see you all there! |

| Amazon Puffers are back! For those of you that don't follow the email every week and have missed out on my world famous speech on these guys this is a true freshwater species. These do not require any salt in their water parameters but like most Puffers they do require lots of meaty foods. Be sure to throw plenty of beefheart and bloodworms at them to keep their bellies nice and full. |
| Sunset Apistos have some huge males in the group[. This is a mixed sex batch so there are some smaller females in there but all are nice. Pro tip: price the males and females separately and or in pairs. Even though you are paying the same for both sexes do not sell them for the same. |
| Wild Geo. Jurupari are in from Peru as well, and these are well on their way to being a beautiful fish but not quite there yet. The brilliant spots are starting to come through already so they're only a few weeks from looking really good. |
| Splash Tetras are in for the first time in nearly a year. So far these look fantastic, but it's not just a clever name so be sure to keep a cover on these guys as they are notorious jumpers |
| Banjo Cats out of Peru are nearly twice the size of the ones brought in from Colombia. The bigger they are the uglier they are but also the more they stand out. This is one of the hardiest fish on the planet, extremely low risk to keep one hanging around even if you think you don't have the clientele to have it fly out the door immediately. |
| This is another case case of a fish having multiple names where one makes perfect sense (Honeycomb Cat) and the other (Oil Cat) seems like it was made up on the fly. Either way these should be on the list as "Oil" and look great so far. |
| Zebra Otos are back and even though they can be a bit pricey their distinct look makes for a very attractive addition to any planted aquarium thus being highly sought after by collectors. |
| Pygmy Cories are finally back for the first time in months. These tend to school more like a Tetra than a Cory spending more time in the middle of the water column than on the bottom. |
| Small Adonis Plecos are about as spotty and adorable as it gets. Already showing off their lyretails these are about as nice as they get. |
| Flash Plecos aka Emperor Pleco aka L-204 are about the perfect size. Avergae is running between 3-4" so not so small where they're delicate and not so big where they'll be difficult to acclimate. Gold striping shows super high contrast on these. |
| Thresher Plecos are always a popular Peruvian pleco every time we've gotten them in the past. These have a very unique elongated body to them and tend to be very hardy. They get nice long lyretail appearances, which is where the name comes from. |
| Got in L-226 Tiger Plecos for what might be the first time here. Certainly haven't had them since I've been here but that notwithstanding once settled these are one of the nicer looking Peckoltia types. |
| Green Spotted Bushynose are a newer Ancistrus type that are sure to sell out immediately. Anyone wanting to breed some sort of bushynose that's a little different is sure to be going ga-ga for these |
| South American Lungfish look like glorified Kuhli Loaches at this size but if you look close enough you can see some of their gold speckling. These are always a fan favorite and will be gone just as quickly as they arrived. |
| My favorite little killifish is in after 5 years of waiting! Clown/Rocket Killis are in stock!! These beautiful little fish are hardy, easy to breed, and active, always out and near the surface. They make literally perfect nano fish. I expect to sell out fast. |
| Adolfoi Cories are in from Indo and they are awesome. Already showing their bright orange crowns and they haven't even been here 24 hours. Size is 1.25"+ on average which is big for far east tank raised specimens. |
| Reynoldsi Cories are here for the first time and they are huge! Can't believe these are tanks raised given the size. This pic was taken right after they were taken out of the bag and they already look amazing. This is a saddle type and will have very distinct twin bands once settled. |
| Somehow we manage to keep getting Tricolor barbs almost every week. If you haven't tried these you must. They look way better in person and so far these actually hold better than the standard Gold Barbs. |
| Black Emperor Tetras might be the biggest I have ever seen. They're by no means full grown but a lot of the males already have their spade tails going and color is blazing. |
| After attending Aquashella last weekend I can tell you planted nano tanks are not only still going strong but they are taking over the hobby. Therefore you need to buy every Scarlet Badis we have in stock right now! |
| Same as above goes for the Indian Blue Badis. Only difference is these are about twice the size of the Scarlets so they should sell out even faster. |
| Choprai Danios legit look like this. They're huge, full of color, and very very male-heavy |
| Samurai Gouramis are back after a prolonged absence. These might be the biggest I've seen come through here so far. Color is great on both males and females therefore very easy to tell apart. |
| Regular Archers came back in over the weekend at a substantially bigger size than what we've been seeing as of late. Around 2"+ so should hold up well. |
| Rosy Loaches are back and even though they don't look like this at the moment they will once they've settled in. |
| Borneo Suckers got a restock this week and like most batches they're pretty mixy in size but still very nice. Make a great addition to planted aquariums as part of a clean-up crew. |
| Ornate Bichirs are significantly larger than the last few batches. By far the nicest of the "affordable" Polypterus species. |
| Not to be confused with the New Guinea Reds the Millenia Rainbows are one of the nicest of that family this week. |
| Hard to tell from the pic but this is one of the large Lyretail Sailfin Mollies. Size is big and the color is outstanding. Hands down the nicest livebearer we have on hand at the moment. |
| Pic is terrible but the Blue Cobar Guppies aren't. Hoping to have enough to go around but order early just in case. |
| Same for the Green Cobras as was for the Blues. I won't be leaving here to go become a professional photographer anytime soon. |
| Got Tanganyikan Killies in for the first time in and years. And instead of these being fragile far east imports these were actually tank raised right here in Florida by one of our team members. This is a pic of one of his breeders. What we have available are1.5-2" and just starting to show color. This is a collector's item that people are out hunting for. |
| Tanganyikan Killies spawning. |
| Got 2.5-3" Blue Diamonds as their own item # this week and not just in the assortment. This is the most popular of the solid blue Discus types. |

| If you're looking for Peacocks this is the week to load up. Got a ton of variety ranging from medium to XL. All males and all gorgeous. |
| This guy will fall under the "Show" category not so much due to size but due to color and quality. |
| Got a couple of these Yellow OBs. You can be sure at least one of them will be making a trip to Global this week. |
| Found this OB Red Empress type in the Show mix as well. |
| Regular sized Hap Compressiceps are back in stock. These are a great cheaper Hap to fill tanks with. The males do get some color when they mature, but they're really more about the unique body shape with the super elongated head. |
| Albino comps are also restocked, same as above but with a little bit of yellow. |
| Phenochilus "starry night" cichlids are back, and much bigger than usual! Normally these get sold to us by the breeder at much less than 2 inches due to the extreme demand, but weirdly this batch is actually in the 2 to 2.5 inch range! |
| Medium assorted haps are one of the best values here. Not only is the size really good but there's really good variety in the mix including this Livingstoni. |
| Regular sized Hongi Redtops are restocked and everyone's favorite mbuna. You can't go wrong with these if you're not sure what types of mbuna to bring in. |
| We got a "select" size (means between regular and.medium) Bleekeri for next week. I don't think the price is going to be on the stock list in time, so ask us monday for a price and we'll have one for you if you want some. |
| L75's are still here and still one of the best looking wild plecos around. |
| Medium Royal Plecos are some of the nicest I have ever seen. And not just here but anywhere. Great color, great lines and great fins. |
| Got Green Phantom Plecos in just about every size you could want. Pictured here is one of the XLs. |
| Small Blue Phantom Plecos are bordering on medium size this week. |
| The Loxozonus Cory Cats that were on the list last week should be good to go now, sorry for teasing you with them last week before they were good. |
| Melanistus Cories are running huge this week. Definitely the best cory cat by a huge margin, and the one everybody should be buying before you put any other cory on your order. |
