    News & New Items
    Hey Folks,

Sorry this one's so late, been a hectic day.

Pretty good week for incoming, in spite of some challenges with Colombian fish right now. Got in Indo, Singapore, a small Colombian shipment and some specialty cichlids.

Challenges in Colombian shipments are because Colombia does regulate their ornamental fisheries. For part of the year, for part of the country, collection is prohibited. This is timed around spawning season. So while it sucks that I might be out of some common fish for part of the year, it's nice to know that we'll hopefully be able to get fish from there for years to come. Expect spotty availability on raphaels, rubber plecos, clown plecos and some other staples over the next couple of months.

I did get in some more amazing red pikes. Rio Atabapo red pikes, they're big and outstanding. I've had bigger red pikes before but these are still great size with great color. They're relatively aggressive and we keep them one per tank to make sure their fins clean up. One of the more impressive pikes, they make a great centerpiece type of fish in a big cichlid display.

Going way beyond 'relatively aggressive', I also have Haitian cichlids in stock this week. They are really small but this fish has been really hard to come by so I still expect them to sell out in a hurry. Their common name of 'black nasty' is even dumber than some of the crap that I come up with but it does give you a pretty good insight into their temperament. They can get up to 15" and have a reputation of being almost flowerhorn-like in temperament, meaning potentially a single pet fish in a tank by itself. With lots of room and robust tankmates you may be able to keep them in a big fish community. Having said all that, they are very small right now and you'll need to be cautious about mixing them with bigger cichlids. The last new fish I'm featuring here are GloFish(R) sharks. All the GloFish(R) sharks are running big lately but this week I have 5" sharks available in three different colors. They're pricey but these are super impressive and very limited.

Please give a call if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Tetras & Other Characins
Florida tetras continue to be all over the place with size, but there definitely some stand-outs. Black phantoms are all pretty big and the color is fantastic. Size on orange von rios got a little more mixy this week but the color is great even on the smaller fish. Glowlights, diamonds, Colombians, and longfin serpaes all look pretty good. I'm back in stock with longfin blushers and vonu rios today, I'll try to get pics on Monday.

Relying less on far-east imports as more fish are available from Florida but I do still have to alternate sources on things like black neons and serpaes. Fortunately they're not bad even when they're imports. Some of the import-only less common fish that look good include emperor tetras, ember tetras, and glass bloodfins. Rummynose have been coming in very nice size and holding up pretty well although that's always day to day.

Balloon penguins are the one really unique far-east farm fish that came in this week. While I'm not a big fan of balloon fish, these do look really good with the normal size tail with the black bottom fork and the short body stripe. It gives them a really neat appearance. While they're freaks, they're perfectly healthy freaks and do just as well as any other penguin tetra.

Not a lot of wild South American tetras due to the restrictions in Colombia but I still have plenty of gold tetras and green neons. Also plenty of silver dollars, and I think there are still limited numbers of flagtail Prochs and pink-tail Chalceus.

    Barbs & Other Cyprinids
I'm back in stock with tiger barbs and they're actually decent size. Standard tiger barbs have been in short supply lately so stock up now. I also have some large tiger barbs that are worth the higher price. Cherry barbs have been all over the place on size, check back on Monday. I have nice albino cherry barbs, and I may have albino veils on Monday. Rosy barbs are still big but a little female heavy. Black ruby barbs are small but they do have color.  Pearl danios got a bit bigger this week. They're very pretty and they're on sale.

Snakeskin barbs are in from Indo and they look great. The tank is very mixed size but it includes some of the biggest snakeskin barbs I've seen come in. This is a very laid back fish, not at all nippy. Asian rummynose came in good size too. They just got here so they're barely showing red but they will be soon. Roseline sharks and red panda barbs are both pretty good size. Gold neon rosy barbs have great color.
    Regular Tiger Barb
    Rosy Barbs
Rasbora hets are great sized today, hopefully still coming in big next week.

    Livebearers
Velvet swords are in stock. Imports and pretty far from velvety, but they still look pretty good. Pineapples are a better choice unless you have to have red fish. The import firecrackers and vampires are always nice, and the vampires are on special this week.

I have new blue tux platies in here for the first time. These are Israeli imports and they look fantastic. Deeper blue than far-east fish, they have a very distinct look. Some other platies that look good include sunset mickeys, dawn platies, red wags, and red tigers (mostly mickeys). Bumblebees are in stock but they are pretty small right now.

Lots of nice guppies to choose from this week. Red tux are my favorites, but I don't have a lot left.  Moscow blues, super gold cobras, midnights, and green dragon dumbos all look great too.

Green sailfin mollies are still big and very nice. XL balloon mollies are back in stock but not as big as the last set of XLs.
    Velvet Swords
They're still heavy female even though this picture doesn't show that.
    Firecracker Sword
    Blue Tux Platies
Look for these on the Monday new fish list.
    Red Tiger Platies
    Dawn Platies
    Green Dragon Dumbo Guppies
    Red Tux Guppies
    XL Balloon Mollies
These are big but a lot less XL than the last set.

    New World Cichlids
Red dovii are in stock. I should say pending red dovii as they're not red yet but they will be. Much like a red devil, these 'peel' starting around 2". This set is a little to small to turn red but they're not too far away. They're from a trusted breeder so I'm positive they will turn red, you're just going to have to be patient. They'll get big and mean and will hate everything just like any other dovii.

Beani cichlids are also in stock. Like the Haitian cichlids, this is a rare fish in the hobby and I expect them to go fast even though they are very small. I'm not kidding, look at the picture before you buy these. While they are small they grow fast and they'll be big and mean and green in no time with lots of food and regular water changes.

The prettiest new fish I have are the 'sapphire firemouth' blue aureum that came in last week. I assume the only reason I have these is because my reps forgot they were here. Limited numbers so get them while you can. These are a Thorichthys and similar to a standard firemouth but less common and very pretty.

I did restock on standard firemouths yesterday. Size is still acceptable and they're showing red. Jacks have been hit or miss but I have some of them on most days. Black and pink convicts are still big and nice.

Back in stock with little salvinis with some color. Red-hump Geos are also back in stock and they're showing red lips. Medium EB acaras, gold severums, and black rams all look good this week.

If you need bigger fish I still have a few of the jumbo orange-shoulder severums, a couple of big istlanum, a big saggitae, and maybe a couple other odds and ends.

For wild fish, I still have very nice F0 Colombian green severums. Rarely come in at this size. These fish are light in the tank with orange fins but they get dark the second they see a net. They're a lot prettier than the picture shows.

Plenty of platinum parrots and blue tiger parrots in stock this week but the size is terrible, especially on the blue tigers. Or alternatively, they're adorable baby blue parrots.

Bangkok assorted discus are a little small but they're holding up well. It looks like an assortment of various red types but they all look good.

Haven't sold either of the big Bangkok flowerhorns. They're on special again at about third of list price.
    (Soon to be) Red Dovii
    Beani Cichlids
    Salvini
    Red Hump Steindachneri Eartheaters
    Black Rams
    Medium Black Angels
    On special this week.
They get blacker as they get bigger.
    Wild Green Severum
    Platinum and Blue Tiger Parrots
    Assorted 2" Bangkok Discus
WYSIWYG Flowerhorn #1 (the humpy one)
WYSIWYG Flowerhorn #2 (the red one)

    Old World Cichlids
EB ahis are back in stock. This batch is as nice as the last batch was crappy. They're oversized, probably a wintertime medium, and males have lots of color. Mixed sex but plenty of males in the tank. This is a Florida strain so their conformation is goofy if you've ever kept wild ones, but it'll look normal if you've only seen tank-raised fish.

Also in stock with zebra obliques that are junk if you want pure fish but are pretty if you want cheap fish with color. I'd say they're best suited for an assorted African tank. If you're going to sell the as anything other than an assorted it should be labeled as a clear hybrid.

Still have plenty of the super bright Florida peacocks. The assortment is beautiful, and I have great looking sunshines and red fires as well.

Medium demasoni are pretty good sized for medium demasoni and the color is outstanding. Don't expect these to last.

A few other Malawi fish that stand out include medium EB johannis, acei, albino auratus, snow white socos, and a huge large assorted mix.

Import peacocks are always super bright because they get a hormone feed. No exception this week and there are some crazy bright fish in the 3" mix. They'll fade, so make sure you let your customers know this.

Also have far-east farm raised gold kribs and adorable baby duboisi.
    Electric Blue Ahli
On the list as zebra obliques, these are cheap but they are 100% hybrids. Customers that want pretty fish don't care but your cichlid geeks will have a fit if you call this a zebra oblique.
    Red Fire Peacock
    Sunshine Peacock
    Medium Demasoni
This is a small species, don't expect these to be 3.5"+ like most of my other mediums.
    Medium EB Johannis
    These are way oversized.
    OB Zebras
    Snow White Soco
One of the 3" assorted peacocks. Stuff to the gills with methyltestosterone and super bright.
Baby duboisi are tiny but they never look prettier than when they're little.

    Catfish and Loaches
Asian upside-down cats are in stock this week. These are very different than the standard UD cats. They get bigger and they're meaner. They're very limited and rarely show up so get them while you can.

The bulk of this category is usually Colombian imports so it'll be impacted more than anything else during the closed season. Cory selection this week included gold/green cories that are on special, some big Brochis cats, lots of pygmaeus, and anything else is likely to be limited.

I do still have a surprising number of fancy plecos. Got in plenty of Colombian snowballs and they got bigger this week. Colombian zebras also came in. About half the size of the snowballs but very nice. I still have a few butterfly plecos and more than a few blue phantoms with great color. Lots of wild bushynose in this week too and they look clean.

If you want otos you're out of luck. If you want pictus you should have thought of that last week and you may be out of luck but there's a chance I'll fill some. I do have spotted and striped raphaels, farlowellas, four-line pims, and Colombian sharks.

Sterbai cories are tank-raised and unaffected by the closed collection season. They're pretty good size and typically hold up pretty well. As the price on wild cories keeps climbing these work better in the market now than they used to. And you'll have less health problems.

Tiger shovelnose are in stock from Indo. You shouldn't buy these but you probably will. Please commit to taking them back when they outgrow your customers tanks. They are pretty small and they need to eat a lot at this size.

I have clown loaches today. Not sure I have enough to get through the week but probably. They are list 2" and there might be some 2" fish mixed in my tanks but most of them are a bit undersized. Fortunately they're all fat which isn't always the case for this fish.

Still have nice Burmese botias in stock, a good alternative to clown loaches that haven't been around for a while. Tiger botias are big and impressive. Sewellia loaches are very nice size.
    Asian UD Cats
    Blue Phantom Pleco
    Royal Pleco
    Colombian Snowball Pleco
    Wild Bushynose Pleco
    Tiger Shovelnose Cat
    Stebai Cory
    Clown Loach 2" (ish)
    Burmese Botia

    Other Fish & Stuff
Platinum dwarf frogs are in stock for the first time ever, so I had to change my section header. I wish I could say they're all as nice as the one in the pic below but a lot of them are not as white. The less white frogs are smaller so I'm guessing they get more white as they grow but I haven't had them before so I can't say for sure. They're not too much more than the standard dwarf frogs or the mediocre 'albino' dwarf frogs I've had before so worth the risk.

Gardneri killis are in stock from Indo. These are a bit smaller than usual and the males aren't super bright yet. Still a very nice fish but you'll have to wait a bit for them to hit full color. They do grow fast and eat flake food so they'll get there soon.

Large panda garras are a lot smaller than I'd like but they're a lot bigger than the little tank-raised fish.

Asian needle gar are back in stock and very good size. These are peaceful but predatory. Don't mix them with mean fish and don't mix them with small fish but they'll do fine with bigger peaceful tankmates.

Red paradise are still here and still outstanding so you get another pic this week. Blue paradise are big and bright too, and the albinos are very nice and on special. Florida opalines are decent size. Blues are about the same size and on special. Gold honeys got smaller this week too but they always look good.

Best rainbows are the medium turquoise and they're on sale. Large emeralds, medium yellows, Goyder Rivers, and crimson spots are all pretty as well. Not as well known as the boesmanis but give them a try because the boesmanis are small and at best adequate this week.

Some other fish that look good include big albino rainbow sharks, dwarf puffers, figure-8 puffers, brown ghost knives, clown knives, black ranchus, peacock gudgeon gobies, and gold true giant gouramis.
    Platinum Dwarf Frog
    Gardneri Killis
    'Large' Panda Garras
About 1/3 to 1/2 the size they have been coming in.
    Asian Needle Gar
    Red Paradise
    Opaline Gouramis
    Gold Honey Gouramis
    Medium Turquoise Rainbows
    On special this week.
    Goyder River Rainbow
    Crimson Spot Rainbow
    Albino Rainbow Shark
    Medium Peacock Gudgeons

    Shrimp, Snails & Other Inverts
Ran through all of my fancier snails in a hurry but I do still have plenty of orange rabbit snails, faunus snails and assassin snails.

For mystery snails, blues are the best. Golds, ivories and the mix all look good too.

Your shrimp selection is about the same as last week. I did get some new red fire shrimp, and I still have red crystals and yellow fire shrimp. All Singapore shrimp and bigger than what I get in from Indo.
    Blue Mystery Snails
    Red Crystal Shrimp
    Yellow Fire Shrimp

    Saltwater Corals
The Saltwater stock-list gets sent out on MONDAY afternoon.

In saltwater, we offer tons of top-of-the-line corals.  If you need really nice frags to sell for $10-15, we've got you covered.  If you want a $400 show piece unique Australian brain corals, we've got that too.  Tons of the coral frags are aquacultured in-house and are named lineage pieces of various SPS and LPS.  Import frags that are MADE in-house are also available, and are great options to get slightly bigger pieces that customers want like torches, hammers, blastos, acans, zoas, etc.
